Kennywood's definition also disagrees with PapaMouse's:

Line Jumping
Line jumping is defined as: (1) a guest advancing ahead of another guest already waiting in line, (2) a guest leaving a line and re-entering at the same point, and (3) a guest saving a place in line for another guest. Purchasing food and beverages, tending children, using restrooms, or visiting with friends are not valid reasons for joining another guest in line late or re-entering a line ahead of other waiting guests. Line jumping will not be tolerated and can be cause for ejection from the ride or the park without refund.

I suspect that most other parks do too but I just grabbed the first two that popped up in Google.

Passholes...people who insist on rewriting the rules to suit themselves...so many annoyances at Disney World! I think I might have to start boycotting.

Because we all know kids go on command.

EeyoresButterfly wrote:It is rude to the guests who were responsible and considerate enough to keep their families together who you then have to climb over.
Not my fault they didn't have the idea to go get a FP while their family got in line.

EeyoresButterfly wrote:It is rude to the guests like Bru who use wheelchairs and then have to deal with you climbing all over them (read her incident report for just such an incident).
Wheel chair people get a separate que line, and the people she spoke of in her report were not catching up, they were all together and being rude.

EeyoresButterfly wrote:It does not take that long to get a FP that your family cannot wait for you, unless you are on the other side of the park, and then by the time you get there you are cutting through many people.
I beg to differ.
1)The line for a FP can be very long.
2)I have personally experienced having my group wait at the entrance to what was a short line at RnRC while I went to get FP for ToT. By the time I got back the line for RnRC had doubled. Had my group gotten in line it would have been a lot shorter wait.
EeyoresButterfly wrote:By curbing this behavior it is harder for others to claim their party is ahead and line jump, and it can stop fights. I have seen guests get into fairly heated arguments over this behavior, and it can become dangerous. Case in point, the recent beating at the Teacups ride resulted from a very similar situation. There is nothing you can say to convince me that this acceptable behavior.

Why does everyone refer to the Tea Cups innocent? That was one deranged woman that was looking for a fight. From what I read she was b*tching in line the whole time about everything. The woman that was catching up was clearly in the right.

Nothing said will change the fact that catching up is fair and ok and is NOT line cutting. Is it line cutting when you go to the movies and you go to the bathroom while your party goes in and holds your seat? This is the same thing.

Swimsuits in the water park only

Would that include SGT caps and shirts???

I dunno, but I've always wanted to wear my Rick James shirt to MK to see if it would get me kicked out. It's a drawing of him and is captioned: "I'm Rick James and I'm dead, bitch!" I mean, hey, it's factual, right?

I'm sorry PapaMouse, but in this instance, I feel that your comments are typical SG comments.
Because we all know kids go on command.
Most kids will do something if you take them, they may not even realize they have to go. The point is you are at least giving them the opportunity.
Not my fault they didn't have the idea to go get a FP while their family got in line.
This is the remark that strikes me as SG. First of all, I am telling you as a former attractions CM that place holding is not allowed, the fact that we normally turn a blind eye to it does not make it right. Is it the fault of the person who just claimed to have family upfront that you didn't think to do the same thing? Frankly, that remark really gets my dander up because it strikes me as very entitled and self serving. I don't care how you slice it or dice it, it is rude, and it is against the rules.
Wheel chair people get a separate que line, and the people she spoke of in her report were not catching up, they were all together and being rude.
Actually, most attractions are now fully wheelchair accessible, but that does not mean that they are wide enough for SG's to cut around the wheelchair.
It's true this happens, but rarely, and that is the risk you take. Plus, you just help me make my point nicely. After the line doubled you had to climb over all of them, again, very rude behavior and potentially dangerous as people's tempers tend to fray when it is hot and they are waiting a long time.
Why does everyone refer to the Tea Cups innocent? That was one deranged woman that was looking for a fight. From what I read she was b*tching in line the whole time about everything. The woman that was catching up was clearly in the right.
I quoted this because it has been discussed on the board. As a CM, I have seen plenty of yelling matches that only by the grace of God did not escalate into physical altercations because of the very behavior you describe.
Nothing said will change the fact that catching up is fair and ok and is NOT line cutting. Is it line cutting when you go to the movies and you go to the bathroom while your party goes in and holds your seat? This is the same thing.
Apples and oranges my friend. Going and getting your seat and then using the bathroom does not stop the movie from starting on time. It does not stop the other guests from getting to see the movie since you already have tickets. Typically you are not cutting through many guests who are following the rules.

I will say it again: Place holding is considered to be the same as line cutting and is against the rules. Nothing you can say will change that. I have seen people kicked out of the line for what you have described because it is not supposed to be allowed in the park. As a guest you agree to abide by the rules. It is for the safety and courtesy of all. You would be surprised how often the addition of one guest can increase the wait time for the party behind them because suddenly additional rows or cars are needed, or the preshow is filling up. This is especially true if multiple families engage in this activity, one guest multiplied by several families can quickly become out of hand.

If I saw that, I'd start cracking up. There is a comedian that does that quote quite often.

hehehe (not the dead part, you get the idea!!)

Not sure which Six Flags your at, but at Six Flags over Georgia, we hold a place in line for people in our group if they need to run to the restroom all the time.

EPIC FAIL!!!! Tending children is one of the MAIN things Disney (and most other parks) allow for catching up to a group.

It does not matter if you like it or not. people do it, it IS allowed, I WILL use it to my advantage and any guest in line that has a problem with it can kiss my @$$ as I walk by.

I am sorry to tell you that you are wrong on this. MANY CM have even helps guest catch up to their group in line.

Actually, most attractions are now fully wheelchair accessible, but that does not mean that they are wide enough for SG's to cut around the wheelchair.
If the que is not wide enough for a wheel chair to make a 360 turn then the wheel chair does not belong in the line. that is a safety hazard. So if the line IS wide enough then a person can pass by with no problems.

It's true this happens, but rarely, and that is the risk you take. Plus, you just help me make my point nicely. After the line doubled you had to climb over all of them, again, very rude behavior and potentially dangerous as people's tempers tend to fray when it is hot and they are waiting a long time.
First off no one is CLIMBING OVER anyone. you are simply walking pass them. You make it sound as if people are walking on others shoulders and heads. Second, If part of my group is already in line, then we waited just as long as the other people.
Apples and oranges my friend. Going and getting your seat and then using the bathroom does not stop the movie from starting on time. It does not stop the other guests from getting to see the movie since you already have tickets. Typically you are not cutting through many guests who are following the rules.
And going to get a FP or running to the restroom does not stop the line from moving and does not stop the ride from running. and it does not stop the other guest from riding the attraction. It is harder to "crawl over" people in a theater then it is to walk past people in line.

I will say it again: Place holding is considered to be the same as line cutting and is against the rules. Nothing you can say will change that. I have seen people kicked out of the line for what you have described because it is not supposed to be allowed in the park. As a guest you agree to abide by the rules. and I will say again. You are wrong. Place holding is not the same as cutting in line. Cutting is when a guest for no reason skips ahead of people. If a person is trying to catch up to their group, they have a valid reason.

There has NEVER been a guest kicked out of the park for catching up to their group. NEVER in the history of Disney. Many have been kicked out for cutting in line (see above for the difference).
