I hadn't heard of any problems at Grad Night except for situation that happened in one of my shops last week. I won't go into detail but in the end a grad wound up spending a long time in the security offices and being escorted out. She won't graduate and her school won't be allowed back most likely because of her actions. Nothing happened in my area Friday night. I'm surprised to hear that those things happened what with security being all over the place and very visible.disneyprincess1988 wrote:I feel so sorry for you all, especially after my roommate told me her own horror stories about what she had to put up with last night. These included her being called nasty names by the grads, things thrown at her, and being physically hit by these little hoodlums. *shakes her head in amazement.
Makes me glad I work in a Resort and, as of the middle of June, an office with a computer, desk, and telephone so I don't have to deal with these out of control brats.

It's amazing what a little alcohol or the herb superb will do to inhibitions.Shorty82 wrote:I won't go into detail but in the end a grad wound up spending a long time in the security offices and being escorted out. I LOVE working grad nites at the DLR. Last year I was the chaperone chaperone. Basically, they gave me a microphone and I sat in the Plaza Inn at a table in the front, while all the chaperones sat around in the restaurant eating. Every 15 minutes or so, security would walk up to me and tell me a school name, and I would turn on the mic and call for a chaperone from ____(insert high school here)_____ to please come meet security at the front. Then some panicked biology teacher would show up at the table and security would whisk them away to wherever.
We would keep count once we started noting repeat offenders - MY old high school was one of the worst last year! I'd call for someone from FoHi (since I knew the nickname) and one of my old gym coaches would show up "What'd we do now, (my last name)?" It was pretty funny.

My understanding is that she wasn't drunk or high, just a b!&#h. She got her just desserts in the end though and as they won't be invited back next year she now has her entire school pissed off at her in addition to not getting to graduate.hobie16 wrote:It's amazing what a little alcohol or the herb superb will do to inhibitions.
That's one thing I don't get, these grads know that if they cause trouble they won't be allowed to graduate and their school won't be allowed back next year plus security has a very large and visible presence so why do some cause trouble? The penalties just aren't worth it I would think.

Some people, adults too, have gotten away with bad behavior for years with no penalties. When they do get busted they're just shocked, shocked I tell ya!!Shorty82 wrote:My understanding is that she wasn't drunk or high, just a b!&#h. I've taught both kids and adults and late teens and adults are far worse than kids. I had one young man who continued to act up in class. I pulled him outside and told him he had no more chances. If he pulled any more crap he was out of class and on a plane home. He figured he was gold and basically dared me to.
He screwed around again and I told him to head back to the hotel and pack his bags. He called his boss. His boss called my boss. My boss told him the situation and golden boy was on the next plane out.
He must have groveled a lot as he came back three months later. Quiet as a church mouse for two weeks.

The worst grad nite incident that happened when I worked there is the kicking over of the volcano in Peter Pan. I'm not entirely sure how this was accomplished, but the manager addressed it at track talks the next night. (until then many of us on the Pooh complex assumed it was a rumor). We very quickly added ride throughs to our rotations so that we could catch such incidents in a timely manner.

I have seen people get in the mindset that it dosn't matter, because mom and dad will fix it, and so on..Shorty82 wrote:My understanding is that she wasn't drunk or high, just a b!&#h. I am so happy that I have not worked Grad Nites since my first CP in 2005. I guess I have something to look forward to in 2010 (since I won't get back til May next year).

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

I lucked out this year and was not stuck working. I worked the mornings on both Saturdays. However the cheerleaders are back and were doing really stupid things last night.
I wonder what part of "you must supply your own transportation to Animal Kingdom Park tonight" don't they understand.
