Kinda sounds like the dumb ass from my class who says he hates Disney because they bought his grandma's house so they (Disney) could build the Orlando International Airport. When I explained to him that Disney does not own the airport he told me "Yes they do. If it was not for them building the parks, then Orlando would not be so big and they would not have to make the airport bigger."

I just laughed.

And many of our hotels have been certified under the green lodging initiative as reducing their impact on the environment. So take that!

Have a good trip and be sure to stop by The Land, or wherever I am, to visit!
Incandescent lighting in some places has been replaced with more energy efficient florescent or LED bulbs and older florescent fixtures have been replaced with more energy efficient ones. In the tunnel, especially in the tunnel under the castle, it looks as though every other fixture has been replaced with newer models. The older ones used four bulbs and are no longer used while the newer ones use only two bulbs.

There are recycling bins scattered throughout the park and in the tunnel. By every trash can in and around the break rooms there are plastic and aluminum recycling bins and there are paper recycling bins scattered throughout the tunnel. All cardboard gets crushed and bundled for recycling. I don't know for a fact but I believe the waste management plant on property, where all of the trash winds up eventually, sorts and recycles the garbage. There are also plastic wrap recycling cans in the areas that pallets are unwrapped.

Ink and toner cartridges are recycled along with many other used office supplies.

The company laundries, the largest laundries in the world, use a special kind of washer that uses half the water per pound of laundry than the average washer.

Some of the buses, I believe the parking trams, and I know the WDW RR run on bio-diesel made from used cooking oil. The Main Street vehicles all run on LNG.

I'll try to bring home a copy of Eyes and Ears I have in my locker that talks about a lot of the environmentally friendly things WDW does.
Alyssa3467 wrote:And of course, some initiatives meet resistance from the front lines... At DCA North, WOD, and Main Street East, we don't typically use bubble wrap to cushion mugs and snowglobes and other breakables that Guests purchase. Instead, we use something known as the Geämi Protective Packaging System, which when properly applied cushions better than bubble wrap, and is more environmentally friendly than bubble wrap since it's 100% paper from "sustainable forestry certified fibers" rather than plastic. Someone properly trained can wrap most items using the Geämi System without any tape, which is a contrast to the copious amounts of tape used by some to wrap using conventional methods.

On the other side of the street, in Emporium, Geämi was abandoned in favor of conventional wrapping materials like tissue and bubble wrap because the dispenser needed for the Geämi System supposedly "kept breaking." I personally suspect Cast Member resistance to new methods and an unwillingness to learn, leading to poorly trained personnel improperly reloading the machine. Most of the mishaps I've seen involving Geämi machines were due to improper loading of the paper causing jams. One loaded Geämi machine can wrap many more items than an equivalent volume of bubble wrap.
We use tissue paper on Main Street East here but I've seen a Geämi machine in Mouse Gear before that they use and there is one downstairs in the main stock room right by the area we put resort, package pickup, and home delivery items to be picked up. I don't know who, if anybody, uses it. It would be nice if they would put one in a more accessible area as it sounds like a good system but I don't see it catching on anytime soon at MSE as there is no place in the shops that could use it to put the machine so it wouldn't be convenient. I don't know if the Emporium here uses the Geämi system or not. The only bubble wrap I've seen is on some of the products we receive in my area. Each ear of the light up Mickey hats has bubble wrap on it and the suckers we get in the Confectionery come packed in bubble wrap. We don't use bubble wrap to pack things.

So basically she was just waiting to share her bad mood with you. I don't get it when someone starts a conversation just to bash whatever it is that you like.

Maybe she was jealous that you could go and she can't?

People act out in all different ways...

It shows you how long its been!!

And I don't really follow sports all that much!

I have been told that there is a large influx of Casino's in the area, and of course, the rise in crime and so on!! Sad, because If I remember, the people in that area didn't make all that much money in the first place!

There's a few people in Hawaii that feel casinos will solve all the state and counties fiscal problems. When confronted with statistics on crime, drugs, etc. that grow along with the casinos and the additional costs for police they suddenly become deaf.
