Makes you wonder these days whether you should expect more intelligence out of guests or CMs.

One of my favorite stories about cast theft involved a CPer. He was trained at the Camera Center by a CM who was about to leave for maternity. He nicked her signin code, and every time he had a cash transaction, used her code insead of his own, then executed a refund (to his pocket) after the guest left.

Cash Control noticed pretty quickly that a CM on leave had a large number of reversed transations, and no net business. Security elected to watch him until there was over $5,000 missing so that when they arrested him on his last week, they could hit him with felony charges.

It isn't just that his 4 months turned into 5 to ten years. What really gets me is the first question he was asked at his termination interview: "Why didn't you believe us when we told you that the black box on the ceiling was the video monitor that watches the registers?"

I wonder if he's related to this idiot who was a temp. teller at the bank that I used to work at...this particular teller got robbed (I was standing right next to him at a computer station and didn't hear a thing - first suspicious item) and then when the FBI questioned him, he gave a description that didn't match the guy on the video tape. To make a long story short, it was the temp's roommate. These FBI guys asked him if there was something he wasn't telling them before running the video. After they showed him the tape he had the nerve to say "but I thought those cameras were fake!" Gee, why was there always at least one bank guard in the basement watching the panel of video monitors??? :?

Do you know what year, just out of curiosity? I was in the CP in 2001, and I'm just wondering if it was anyone I know.

2000, IIRC. I'm sure he wasn't the only one to try this stunt -- it's not like there are many new scams that haven't yet been tried.

F'r some reason, they didn't accept him as being the rightful owner of the shrit (perhaps it was someone who'd seen him walk in with no bag and pick up a shirt and bring it to the counter?) so security was called and he go bye-bye.
