I remember both the story and the restaurant chain... wow. I also remember when the chain disappeared and asking my parents why we couldn't eat there any more!

I remember getting a cloth Sambo doll when I was about 5.Guess it would be a collectors item now.....

Last remember going to Sambo's in the early 80's near Riverside CA Tyler Mall.

On our Alaska trip last summer our tour bus stopped at a nature preserve before continuing to the Port.
We were too late to see an elk drop her calf, but we all watched it get up for the first time. Much clapping and cheering when it was standing on it's own.

The rats came ashore from ships. Someone got the bright idea of importing mongooses to eat the rats. Problem is rats are nocturnal but the mongooses are out during the day.
The occasional snake sighting causes a massive response. Hawaii is scared to death that snakes will take hold and wipe out the bird population like what happened on Guam with the brown snake.

They are pretty mellow little dudes. The orchid garden is pretty dense. No telling what they're growing in there.
