I've had death threats at my job. I invited one guy to Texas and then reminded him that we have more gun owners per capita than any other state. He changed his tone :D:

I think it is more that the guest gets arrested for assault and you get workmen's comp. As opposed to Disney getting sued and you getting fired. I'd probably take the hit and be the "victim" over protecting my ego and getting fired from my dream job.

I still work at Knott's and though it has never happened to me personally, I vow never to let a guest take a swing at me. I will duck or block the punch. My health matters to me more than my job. It is against human nature for us to just stand idle and get hurt. Then again,Knott's doesn't consider its employees human now do they? :( That would mean better wages,respect, and edible food.

LOL!!! Well the nice thing about Disney is they will foot the entire medical bill for any injury on property. But I would probably duck too! I know a CM who turned into an opening Automatic door and chipped a tooth. Disney paid for his stupidity!!! But my friend from KSR was hit by a guests car once after work and Disney paid for everything!

OMG, closing Wishes can be an absolute nightmare! I love the people who take off full-tilt for the ropes, duck under and keep running. It's the only job where you can get a GSF for clotheslining a guest! (Better petite me closelining than being tackled by fireworks crew!) They always say they didn't see the ropes. If they didn't see the ropes, they would be on the ground in pain right about now. I was glad when they finally added the second rope, that has stopped the majority of the rope ducking behavior.

It's a little amusing how they will stand there and yell at you, even after you tell them the area is a fall out zone and closed for their safety. They spend so much time yelling at us about how it takes too long to go around that they could be out the gate on their way home before they give up!

Yep :) The pyro guys and gals WILL TACKLE anyone that crosses into the fallout zone. We now have white signs on the Wishes ropes "Preparing for Wishes!" sadly no one knows what the hell it means. How long ago was it that you did Wishes? We could use some more people willing to clothesline a guest or two ;)

Funny story actually from christmas time. guest in a personal ECV speeds into the philhar ropes, snaping the bottom rope, bending the stanchion, and ripping the eyelet out of the carrousel wall. found part of the rope clip over by philhar distribution later that night. Oh, the double ropes don't help as much, as people just go through or over them anyways.

My first day of area training (Christine was my trainer) back in 04 we had a nasty incident with the ropes. We were all in our little global costumes and being shown how to work Wishes. A mother was asking us some questions while her son, who was about 5, was running around. She was completely oblivious. He ran into the rope, which hit him at about his neck, knocking him off of his feet and causing him to hit his head on the pavement. Since I was in a global costume and she was in a Fantasyland costume, Christine had me walk them to first aid. Thankfully, the mother had been there earlier that day to have her knee wrapped and knew precisely where it was. Because of that incident I never forgot where first aid was located.

I don't work at WDW anymore. I was a CP (3x) and am now back at my school as a Campus Rep. I miss Disney, but I'll be there over spring break. It can't come soon enough, it's -1 here right now. I'm starting to wonder why I left!

Oh, the double ropes don't help as much, as people just go through or over them anyways.

SGs can and will climb 5 foot walls if need be and I have seen them scale some strange stuff to get where they want to go.

I tore up Casey's Corner iin WDW once with an ECV. Poppa Joe always was saying I hugged corners when driving and boy did I. it was just some moulding at the bottom.

Just to clarify my comment, I'm not saying give the combative SG a sound ass kicking. Avoid getting hit. Insurance may pay all the bills but you may end up with damage that can't be repaired.

A friend who was suppose to be on the Olympic boxing team when the games were held in Moscow told me most of his training was how to avoid getting hit. Watch Sean Connery and his thumb in the Presidio.
