This whole thing is exactly why I opted not to go meet with Susi and Raffles last time they were here, as I didn't want them to get the (EXTREMELY) nasty stomach bug that I had...

I remember one time when I worked at Knott's, this one woman was going around with her kid, saying "He got the day off from school because he has chicken pox!" Luckily, I'd had chickenpox when I was a kid, but WTF?

And yes, I have been the recipient of kid germs because the little monsters were coughing and sneezing right in my face while I was doing their seatbelts. I got a whopper of a cold that progressed to laryngitis and then to a strep throat and sinusitis, and I had to go to the doctor and use an inhaler and take meds--something that hasn't happened in a long time!

I wish I could've tracked down the SGs that were responsible and wrung their friggin' necks!

This is how I ended up with Chicken Pox (second time in my life- had had them as a toddler) when I was also in my first month of pregnancy. Went to WDW and- well, one was intentional and the other was not. I hadn't even had a positive test yet but I knew I was pregnant, and I was so sick. Chicken Pox at 24 is no fun at all.

I had to wait until my baby was born to find out for sure if she had any negative health effects from it. My mother had mumps when she was expecting me and I have a lot of issues that doctors can only attribute to that.

Far as my own experience went, the doctors couldn't see her fingers and toes on the ultrasound because she curled them so tight and warned me that she may not have them. I was already a high risk pregnancy because of other problems- but those people who brought their contageous kid to the parks will never know the months of pain and worry and heartache they caused me.

Hey, maybe that is the root of my issues with SG germs! What someone else's selfishness could have done to my child! We were very lucky she was born with everything where it should be. But people who take children who are contageous with illnesses like measles and pox have no idea what they could be doing to the lives of others. So selfish.

This place is better than therapy! Way cheaper too! LOL

When I do the parks, I am on Airborne everyday. learned this last summer riding Splash Mountain untill I got sick. I guess
the days heat, the rides air conditioner and getting wet did that. and they have nothing in the parks for colds or flus.
so, Do the parks, and Don't let them do you. :D:

I get a laugh out of the people who will pull out a handkerchief or tissue to clean germs off the scanner plate before they put their ticket into the turnstile. I does happen.

Bet ya they are the same people who use 3 cans of Lysol to disinfect their hotel rooms. I think it would be fun to watch them throughout the park and see if they wipe off the railings in the attraction queues and their untensils at dinner.

I do agree tho, if you are having to run to the restroom every 5 minutes to take care of business, then you have NO business being in the parks. We tend to get slightly sick also every trip (nothing major, just cold like symptoms) but I think that is mainly due to being in a different enviroment then we are normally used to then others purposely infecting me with their germs. I notice this even when we just go to the major mall 1.5 hours away or stop at a relatives (non public area) for the day. Our bodies just arent acclimated to the changes fast enuf and react by making us sick.

I am a proud, wipes carrying member of Chlorox Nation! sadly last time even the hand sanitizers, soap and water washing before meals or even snacks, wiping down surfaces in the room. . .none of it saved us :(
