Over you-know-where, I have seen multiple people ask variations of "if I buy an Annual pass in Feb, can my brother, sister, priest, mechanic, etc. use it when they go in August??"

Sure. You just have to pay $650 per person per pass to have your name added to the pass. (notice this is more than an Annual costs). :D: Think anyone would take us up on the offer?

When they first went over to the *new* Park pass system, it was confusing. We were all used to the *ticket book* system, they used back in the Dark Ages! ;)

The hand stamp confuses me in a way, because if I go into DL, and then leave to go to DCA for a few hours, then come back to DL again later, why would they have to put a stamp, if I have my Park Hopper to show them again? Is it for attendance counts, so they don't scan the same ticket over and over if a person parkhops? That is the only thing I can think that it would be for. It would make total sense. Making sense at DL? Oh the horrors! :twisted:
It was interesting at WDW with the finger scans, having grown up on DL. A strange change of pace to get into Parks. I like that they do it, so it can foil some SGs trying to scam the system. But you know there are those who have ways of beating the system. :mad:

I have a question about these *Park tickets* you see on ebay for DL.

You see them all the time offering a Park Hopper with 2 days left or 3 days left. I would NEVER, EVER dream of purchasing a DL ticket that way. What a burn for someone. Can the person who buys the ticket online actually use the ticket, after it has been used by the one selling it? I know the system at WDW would completely stop that, because of the fingerscans. But do they pass through the gates at DL easily, if the seller has not been in before that SAME day. Unless one shows ID with the ticket, it would not be known WHO used the ticket previous days.

Disney does not want these types of sales on eBay from what I understand, but you see so many of them along with the fastpasses and FOL tickets people got and never used OR more probably did not use because they saw $$$$$ on ebay for a FOL pass. The bids often go very high on these items. Do the folks who buy the Parkhopper with two days left actually get to use them, or are they SOL? It pisses me off that pepole sell these types of items and they are supposed to be banned on eBay. I have written to eBay to report unauthorized DL tickets. Ebay seems to turn a blind eye to the auctions. It sucks. Disney can hire me to track these auctions and blast em off eBay. I will gladly do it! :D: Anything to stop the SGs. :twisted: :D:

BTW..We still do the whole vacation package deal for our trips! I think it is time to invest in Premium Passes. We like to go when we want, so I would not like the Block Out day deal at all. I think we are going to need them for both DL and WDW.
DL first, because we go at least 2-3 times a yr right now and that would already save money on Parkhoppers.

WDW , we will get DEFINITELY (later) when we move to the Orange Juice state! :)
DL Travel Co has a special right now, you get a five day Park Hopper for the cost of a three day. And we also have a pass for the Club 33 day and we are only staying 4 days. If we can get back there before the passes expire, that would be good. Plus who doesn't want another trip to the Magic! I could go every weekend! :) The reason we use the Disney Packages, you get a pin with it and those great coupons to see all sorts of stuff as well as Mickey's Toontown Madness and some other great perks, discounts and such. Right now they give you a commorative Disney coin in your Vacation package! I am a sucka for all the swag I can get, ESPECIALLY pins!!!!!!!!! I Love pins to the chagrin of Ralphies wallet. You all would faint if you knew what I have invested in pins. Disneymom knows and she ain't telling. It is a LOT!!!!!!! But it is what I collect and they are so addictive!!!!!!!!!

Sus, in answer to your questions - it's been my understanding that the hand stamp in addition to having your parkhopper pass scanned was to keep you from handing off your pass to someone else (we used to do the same thing at WDW and have "upgraded" to the finger scan system). And those buying tickets off of ebay are taking a HUGE risk! At WDW and Universal Orlando, they're probably not going to get in because of the biometrics (finger scan) and because both parks are hyper sensitive to transfered or resold tickets. I would imagine that DL is a little easier if there actually IS use left on the ticket, but a buyer would have no recourse in any of the parks if they found out the ticket had no value. In fact, WDW stopped allowing their CMs to check used tickets for remaining value anywhere but at the park guest relations windows to try to discourage people from using those transfered tickets (they can't just take someone's tickets and go to a resort to check their value for instance). I know at Universal at least, we confiscate the tickets if they are found to be resold and the guest has to buy new ones.

One of the primary reasons WDW went to biometrics rather than hand stamps was because of shady tour operators. (Also this was before fast passes.)

To start off with, over a period of weeks/months a tour company got a UV reader, saw what all the hand stamps were, duplicated the stamps, and got some stamp pads with UV ink. Let's say they had a tour group with two busloads of kids from a foreign country. One busload would have an early breakfast and go to one park. After they entered one person in the group would collect all the tickets and leave the park, getting a hand stamp.

The person would go to where the second bus load was having a later breakfast, read the stamp, and then as the group would be on the bus to another park they would apply the "stamp of the day" to everyone in the second group and they would have the entire day in a different park. They would all go to the re-entry turnstile, would have proper tickets and the correct stamp. Of course they would have all been briefed that they had gone to the first park (which they probably were really going to do the next day) and had only wanted one particular ride.

This could have also possibly been done for a third busload even later in the day.

Anyway, this did get a couple of tour operators banned. But it would work with small groups of people also.

And, in relation to this, there are "YES" (Youth/Education/Sport) tickets which do not take biometric scans. However, these are sold to specific groups staying on Disney property (usually competing in something) and the tickets have from/to validity dates and Disney knows who all the participants are; the tickets are tied to the group's room reservations. I know that very often the chaperons will hold the tickets so the kids can't leave the park, and definitely will hold onto the room keys.

Thanks! That explains aLOT! I just feel for those who REALLY are innocently thinking they are getting a great deal on Parkhoppers for DL on eBay. If they are SGs trying to go around the system, they deserve what they get.
For what it is worth, I have NEVER seen WDW passes on eBay, most probably due to the biometric scan part of the deal. That is not to say they are not there, they probably are. Someone who does not know about the fingerscan system would REALLY get ripped off, and this would be out and out stealing money from the auction winner. Maybe Disney just gets to these more quickly to save people from the BIG scam of WDW tickets which they most certainly would NOT be able to use. You CANNOT get around the biometrics if the Passes are already used, as we saw in the example of the Darwin Awards candidates who said they had been used by somone else. Even if they had not told the CM, it came up when it was scanned and their fingers would not match the previous scan and the ticket would be void.

These vultures who prey on the uninformed on eBay need to be stopped from taking advantage of those who think they are getting a good deal on eBay. I hate these vultures, they are the worst kind of thief, using the ignorance of the auction bidder to separate them from their money. :mad:

But then, anyone who buys a ticket to the Disney Parks on eBay, is trying to beat the system anyway, so you have to wonder......

These eBay predators are the scum of the earth and it could really ruin a family's vacation if they fell prey to these leeches, not knowing better and trying to save a little money by getting their tix on eBay. I wish Disney WOULD hire me to pull these types of auctions from eBay. They are illegal and unethical and they need to be stopped. I know they already have teams that work on just that....

If that's true, it's a change that happened since my last shift. I do that nearly every shift I work.

What I love most are the folks who come in with a wad of unrelated tickets to check. The last batch I had included old VIP passes, comp passes, and a few partly-used passes, some ten years old. I thought the guest was going to explode when I asked for photo ID that matched the name on *just one* of the passes before I would return them. :twisted: Spent a long time explaining that it was "for her protection in case someone stole her tickets". Yeah, right.

Imagine my surprise when she actually came up with matching ID!
