Yeah, it was great. I wore makeup, got a haircut more than once a year, and I actually wore clothing for more than 5 minutes without finding some sort of unidentifiable crud on it!!!! I could remember things and no one rolled their eyes at me on a regular basis AND I could actually watch an ENTIRE movie and HEAR it all.

Those were the days. <sigh>

Well, I actually was taken to many nice restaurants and wine tastings when I was quite young, however it is a little different as my family was at least part owners of the places. In fact, at quite a young age, my grandfather would test me and make me select and taste, for acceptance or refusal, wines for meals at nice restaurants! (I think I'll be meeting Vixen in March, so she'll have the opportunity to learn my last name and why this is a part of my heritage...) The thing is, I would never have acted up because I would have been taken to, and left in, the car for the remainder of the meal.

Yes, I would highly recommend switching Cali Grill to V&A for that anniversary. We did Cali Grill as it was supposed to be "special" for my female roommate's birthday. The noise level coupled with numerous children (some of whom were sitting with their feet in the chairs!) made me somewhat nauseas. Certainly not a place I would go for a special event ever again. The view is great, though, and some of the food is quite good, but at that price point, I expected something more. I will, however, have no problem now that I know what to expect, simply going and enjoying Wishes from their lounge. You can get into the lounge with no reservation, and that section actually has a better view of the Magic Kingdom than the tables for food (and nicer chairs too!). Oh, and you can order anything on the menu from the lounge, so there's no reason I can't have apps and desert with my drinks and fireworks. Truly, the place is completely bass-ackwards. This is why Disney has so much trouble getting the *really* great chefs. Stick a wonderful up & comer in a place like this and you'll find him having impaled himself upon a 10" french knife inside a week.

I hear that Narcoosee's in wonderful, and, if I might be so bold, I'd like to suggest perhaps a lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe. Granted we had a fairly late lunch there (2 or 3 pm as I recall) but I found the place to be quiet and elegant with understated plates full of interesting takes on classic foods. Truly a pleasure to stumble upon.

I don't have any children and I don't want them, at least for now. I don't hate children, but I don't want to spend every waking minute around them. I know Disney is "for kids" and I do have wonderful interactions with other people's children in the parks and such, but I just don't need them screaming in my ear when I'm trying to eat. It gives me indigestion.

I'm getting stressed out now. I'm going to go pour myself a glass of Pinot Blanc from one of the vineyards named for my family. ;) Back in a minute, kids.

By the Way: Vixen, I am quite certain that you are a lovely young lady and my family would disown me if I were to insult a person like that. And that is as it should be. I, also, cannot wait to meet your little one. I'm sure you'll forgive me if I'm not the best with children, however they sometimes seem to like me and I've no doubt we'll have a great time. (In fact, I'm interested to see if, touring the parks with you and the little one and the rest of the SGT crew will provide me a look at my favorite places as though through fresh eyes...)

It's better to be nuveau-riche then nevar-riche.

AHHHH! the fond memories all those bring back. LOL
P.S. that is why I keep the subtitles on the TV pretty much all the time, well that and Donnie has a partial hearing loss and if I didnt he would have it headache blasting loud, so I can just tell him to read the damn tv if it is too low.

Now you have me curious

By the Way: Vixen, I am quite certain that you are a lovely young lady aaawww.....you called me young and a lady. Donnie may disagree with you but to hell with him and my family would disown me if I were to insult a person like that. And that is as it should be. I, also, cannot wait to meet your little one. UMMMM you may change your thots when she decides to have a major meltdown. LOL It is interesting to look thru a child's point of view on things sometimes and you realize that you will probably be the one she decides is her new best friend. Fine by me, I need a vacation. lol

Oh, that's fine, we'll just take her up to the Cali Grill! Actually, has she ever seen the fireworks from up there? I'm trying to encourage an SGT meet or mini-meet or whatever up there during the Bubble Ladies trip... I'm a sucker for drinks and conversation with friends and Disney's fireworks are one of my favorite things in the world. I'd just love to share that with this group of friends. (And I bet they have a good smoothie or at least a virgin strawberry daiquiri or something so your little one doesn't feel left out--she can have "drinks" with the adults!)

Edited to add: and some of their desserts are fantastic, too!

No, she hasn't. We did see them from OHANA the last trip. I try not to give her look-alike drinks since she hasnt figured out the difference between the 2 yet. If we can swing it, we may join up for that. We are not big on drinking. We are going to do at least one full day at the MK celebrating our UN-Birthdays so as long as it isnt that same day (prob the 4th or 5th)

We have our silly little traditions when going down. 1st park must be the MK even if for a few hours and we must ride over on the ferry. Better 1st view of the castle (and I dont have to walk up that long ramp to the monorail) At least one full day at Epcot and a partial at AK and/or DTD the last day

DW and I dined at V&A's for our anniversary several years ago, interesting and fun, but I cannot imagine anyone under 16 really enjoying it, as the wine and courses were what made it fun. A few years later we went to Narcosee's and enjoyed that just as much.

I couldn't imagine a little one being able to set still or dine at V&A's without bothering the others there.

vent away!!!

Ah...I don't generally do full days anywhere (I'm big on afternoon naps) and I'll be arriving on the 5th about noonish. I'm sure this'll all get sorted out in the Bubble Ladies World Tour thread, though, when Wallaby gets around to putting together a tentative schedule of meet-ups. (He's a busy marsupial...I am impressed at his generosity in spear-heading this, not just in financial terms, but also in the commitment of time. Truly amazing that there are people who are so kind in the world. At times, I have trouble believing there still are people who are so classy.)

naps...that is what one of the double strollers is for. LOL We will be staying offsite so too much hassle to leave the parks for the day. Depends on which park we are at too that day. I tend to bring a ton of stuff with me and stow it in the lockers till I need it or on the bottom of Meghyn's stroller. (yes I still use one for her...poor little legs get tired after a while)

Ah. I really don't know anything about children, so I wouldn't know if that's unusual... I also wouldn't know what age it's normal to know the difference between drinks with or without alcohol. I do know that when I was younger I did upset some of my friends parents by having a cup of coffee with dessert (I didn't know that was unusual for kids) or, once, reaching for a bottle of wine at a friend's thanksgiving table (I didn't realize they had given the 'kids' alcohol free wine, and I was reaching for the other bottle...I just thought their family was like mine!) :p: I think I've just hit on something that would have cost a lot of money to discover with a psychiatrist: I think I might not understand children now because I never did understand them, even when I was one!
