Beyooootiful country there. If I ever move back to Oregon I thought about locating in Grants Pass or Ashland, except I can't afford the real estate in that part of the USA.

Too cold and wet for me. The only time I wear shoes is when I'm using the weed wacker or riding my bike.

Or mowing your lawn, yeah, we know. :)
Not all of us can afford real estate on a tropical island, either.
I've decided we should become snowbirds, spending winters in Florida with the other feathered creatures, and summers in the Pacific Northwest where all my family resides. Then we could jump the big puddle occasionally and bask on a Hawaiian beach for a week or two at a time. Hobie, can we come visit you? Maui is my favorite island, especially the lower slopes of Haleakala where the lush green pastures and eucalyptus trees grow. I love green grassy pastures, especially if they are populated with beautiful horses.

I can get away with sandals with the mower.
If I had to buy today I couldn't afford it either. There will be a big shake out soon. There's some lots over the hill that were bought by flippers that are now going for below list.
Come on by! We're in West Maui. My neighbor has a farm in Kula for his restaurant. He does tours that are pretty cool. I can set you up if you're in the neighborhood.

Oh! Ooh! Ooooh! I think I'm gonna cry! I miss Hawaii so much and I haven't been back since I left in 1981. What is wrong with me??!!
Ha! Serves those flippers right for trying to make a fast buck (or zillions).
I saw a great airfare from the west coast to Hawaii recently. I need to plan a trip to Portland carefully next time, so I can take advantage of a cheap flight on to the islands to visit our favorite beverage-tree-growing, shoeless, weed-wacking guy.

In-laws live in Grant's Pass, brother lives in Jacksonville, OR. Very Beautiful up there. I love how there are blackberry bushes all over the place and you can stop and pick them as long as you're not on private property. The Oregon coast is especially gorgeous, went camping there near Coos Bay a few years ago....
But I agree.....PARTY AT HOBIE'S!!!!!!!!!! I promise to behave and not whack your lizards!
