I love the invitation wording also. It sounds great.
I have a list from there already..HEHEHE! :D: They have a whole line of pirate girl stuff...all fushia pink and black...very cool. And thank you.
Purpura wrote:Ooh Hehe "Davy Jones' Locker"... You get long green strands of yarn and twist them and tie them to a packet containing treasures in different places in a room with lots of obstacles that the girls get to untie and wind the yarn aka Seaweed around a cardboard tube(Empty toilet paper tube or paper towel half tube, and all the girls get one end of the seaweed and then wind up their long strands following the seaweed to the treasures.
Oh that sounds like a fun alternative to a treasure hunt and sorta easy to pull off and simple enuf for that age. Lord knows I have enuf empty rolls left from Xmas. BUT THAT is another post for my craft I have planned.

You could mark the treasures with a rainbow of colors in different shapes, then have the girls pick a color and shape to look for in the Treasure hunt... and just that one color and shape - Like heart for Meghyn, anchor for one friend, fish for another, Square map for a third, bird for a fourth etc...

I did the Coxswain purposely. :D: I could care less about being PC. It fit anyway since Donnie does all the driving around here and Coxswain is the guy who steers the ship right? I am 1st mate since I control the ship around here (under Meghyn of course...lol)
The maps are just a generic thing since I am not quite sure where the party will be yet. I have to wait till the Majors at the Salvation Army come back from vacation next week to ask if I can have it in their community room. If so I will invite 11 if not the tally is down to 5 for my house. No way am I having more then that in 5 year old girls running about the premises. LOL
I was thinking about the treasure hunt thing but if I have it at the SA I will only have one room to do it in. Plus most of the guest cant read yet. LOL
Now that is just SMART!!!!
you are right, the other terms dosn't matter, and the coxswaine does steer the small boats. Helmsman for large vessels and lee helm for power! (too many years in uncle sams canoe club) Arrrhhhh!!!

Back to party plans.
Craft (double meaning for this party--ba dah bump)
Periscopes
Cardboard tubes with colored cellophane on the end (I just happen to have some pink in the attic left over from last easter..lol) Tape that down and cover with black paper. I figured some stickers and stick on gems for them to use to decorate them with.??? Anything else cheap and non-messy to put on them???????

OK OK. :D: ..so I am not up on nautical terms, that is why I am here. Plus I had too much mashed potatoes earlier and I am not thinking straight.
I need a back up CHEAP craft tho. How about some coloring pages or somethign similar to bide away the time while they wait for all the kids to get there?
Regardless....as they come in they will be each given an eyepatch (some black fun foam and elastic) and their very own parrot----TP roll covered with colored paper to look like a parrot and with elastic on the bottomso they can actually wear it on their shoulder. I made a test one of these and Meghyn had a blast for an entire hour walking around with it on her wrist (she didnt like the shoulder bit as it kept "pecking" her ear. LOL
