The kids (grandkids) get the toys and stuff, years ago we decided to limit gifts of clothing to the kids, as that is usually a disappointment to them. WE give gift cards to the adults and DW likes to make other things. THis year she embroderied towl sets and stuff like that. The only thing I bought for Setepson was a t-shirt: 'More Cowbell!"
(next DW IS going to make "Bunny Jamies" for the grand kids like in "A Christmas Story")
Yeah! More Cowbell! Ralphie has that shirt and gets comments on it everywhere he goes! That was one of the funnist bits ever on SNL. You can watch it at youtube anytime!

We're still shopping. We were going to get a Wii, but gave up after thanksgiving when we were in small town, talked to the local game stop guy (okay, not a super small town, but closest "city" is an hour away) and he said they had 20 the day before, and they were all gone. I'll wait until after Christmas and then hunt one down when everyone and their mother is not looking.
I'm also holding off on Rockband. I've read about not production issues, just quality issues with the guitar, drum pads and the kick pedal specifically. I only want the game for the drums, and as a drummer, I know I will be hard on the pedal. Plus I want a Xbox 360, and only have PS2 now. I want to be able to download more songs.
We were at the mall yesterday, it was bad, but not too bad. Then again, we have been to DLR in the summer, WDW in September and DLR last weekend so crowds are all relative now :D:
Oh, if you've been through Shinjuku or Tokyo stations during rush hour, then your idea of a crowd changes even more...

Today was a great day to go to AK. Very light crowds... all the attractions were sitting at 20 minutes or less for the wait times. And that was after 13:00
Who needs a Fastpass?

Darph,
You would be really easy to shop for.
3 cases of beer, a box of worms and a new cooler (with integrated cutting board)

So, the weekend of hell is over. I'm exhausted and a little hung over, but we got two Wii's, a jewelery box, those things that start with "d" and get put in jewelery boxes, and a bed! Not just any bed, but a heavy-ass solid wood (cherry, I think?) four poster bed! It attacked me too. While we were putting it together, a plank was dropped, bounced off of another bit of wood and smacked me in the cheek. I was cool once the bleeding stopped, but I badly needed a drink. Oh, additionally this weekend, our tree fell over, luckily no ornaments were broken, but the water the tree was sitting in went all over the gifts which were already under the tree, so we had to open some things early because Jen didn't want to rewrap the things which had been moistened.
It's times like these that make me think I'm kind of a like really lousy recovering alcoholic: I don't *NEED* alcohol to live, I just need it to dull the pain of life (and the burning in my quads!).

We have it for the 360 and we love it. You'll be able to buy instruments separately in Jan or Feb if you only want the drums. Honestly, though having all the stuff is great fun! We did get the dreaded "down strum stops working" failure with our guitar, but they've got a great RMA website that takes care of it in a real hurry. Had the new one in less than 2 days and we were off to the races again! Aside from that, everything is working great. Also, just a little note about the microphone, we learned that there's no motion sensor in it, so when you're using it to "play a tambourine" it's actually just registering the sound of you hitting the mic against something. I was uncomfortable with the idea of hitting a mic against something from the start because it's bad for mic's so at least we figured out you can just tap lightly on the windscreen for the tambourine bits. I'm worried we've already screwed up our mic a bit by hitting it against hands like they tell you to...it seems like it has a little crackle when you sing and it seems a little less sensitive than it was at first...but it's a Logitech USB mic, so it's easily replacable for about $30...
Don't laugh, but I'm a teeny-bopper at heart, so I might just pick up the High School Musical game for the Wii. It comes with the same USB mic by Logitech, just in white! :D:

Yeah, I've read the rockband.com forum and the RMA procedure. It worries me it's only 60 day warranty, and I *know* that if it is poor quality, then I will break it.
I do plan on getting the whole thing when I do buy it, not just the drums. I need to have band mates! Will the microphone fit in a mic stand?
