I have heard of one person's ashes which were used to "fertilize" a tree on the walkway between International Gateway and the Beach Club.

No it is not Judy, she is buried in the family plot on Long Island. But when her cat (who is now 17) dies Sheeba's ashes will be put in Judy's grave.

I love the caption on the picture: Opened with 999 "happy haunts" - the number is now much higher

While yes, it is disturbing, :hysteria: at the caption.

Now, on to the actual article. That is quite disgusting. I'm pretty sure cremated remains aren't going to carry diseases, but that's just nasty. I remember once when we were burying my grandmother's remains, we were scoping out one cemetery, we looked at one really neat tombstone that had hundreds of names on it, then realized we were standing not just on the graves of these people, but those strangely-shaped stones weren't stone. That got us off that mound of earth and other stuff rather quickly.

And, of course, in the sets of Haunted Mansion and Pirates and other places, they didn't spare much expense making the scenes look perfect. So to disrespect the scene enough to do that is awful.

We scattered my grandmother's ashes in the mountains. There are bits of bone in the ashes and usually not the fine powder you see in movies. I want to be dumped on the matterhorn or better yet the desk of the CEO of Disneyland.

It is pretty disturbing... remind me to wear a mask ala' Michael Jackson next ride on POTC and HM...And I don't know that they would actually be able to take them to the dump as I alluded to earlier. Probably the fact that they had human cremains in them, those hepa bags would probably have to go to a hazardous waste dump just as any other human *parts* go from surgeries as well as other hospital waste. I would think anyway.
Ralphie and I want our cremains mixed together and then we want to add the cremains of Orion, Ralphie's cat who is in a beautiful laser engraved box now :( and Tawny, my cat (who is still very much alive :) ) and then have the four of us dumped into the Pacific ocean, or as Wombat posted on another thread put in fireworks and shot off the boat over the Pacific ocean. Whatever way we get there, we want to end up in the ocean, our favorite place on earth. :sharkbait I don't think they will go after us in the state we will be in, not tasty enough. The little pieces of bone might get stuck in their teeth... :hysteria: , I know, I know, I am one sick cookie.

Honestly? I don't care where my body gets dumped after I die. I just don't have that much affection for any place in the world that I want my remains there. The important thing to me is that I am buried or placed where my family is comforted to see me go.

If you want to be scattered at sea, and either you or your DH were in any branch of service, the Navy will do it for free. I remember years ago, when I was on active duty, we were doing "local" operations off the California coast, and once we were beyone the 250 mile limit, we stopped and had a cermoney. We scatterd 6 cremains that day. The navy takes a chart and marks on it where it was done, and gives it to the family.

I remember that there were three navy people, 2 army, and 1 marine.
One of the Navy vets that was scattered was the father of our weapons officer. Very moving, as they bring a chaplin on to officiate.

Moving on.....

I'm with you on that, BW. I've told my wife that when I die she can just put me out in the alley on trash pick-up day. Don't think she was real thrilled with that thought, but I really couldn't care less.

The best answer I ever heard to all that was from a visiting youth pastor, "It'll burn."

Ever since I heard that, it's hard to get attached to things in life. People, absolutely, but not things.

If you want to inter your remains in the ocean may I suggest Eternal Reefs. A buddy of mine from church works for this company. They put your ashes in this specially made cement thing (you'll see them on the site) and then help build reefs out of them. I think it's pretty cool.
