yeah, but the floaters always end up getting flushed...

I've had that thought when I drive at Animal Kingdom long after it closes. That means they float me to another park or Downtown Disney, making me an Animal Kingdom Floater.
Wonderful connotation, that one has. I've never cared for being called a "floater".

Well, I've decided that when I can, I want to move down there and become a train engineer. Inter-acting with guest appeals to me, so working and waiting as a conductor is something I think I can do. I've had some really, REALLY bad management in previous jobs, and I learned to work through that to reach my goals.
If all else fails, well, I'll figure out plan b one of these days. It'll be a while before I can switch career's.

Have you thought about a position on the Dream Squad???? My friends that do that now for DLR say that's all they do all day is talk to guests except when they make a "prize delivery".. That could be fun for you. And it gives you 3 months to meet people all over the park in the areas you are considering so that you can take your time in making that all-important transfer decision...

Well I have to say that the hours are KSR are amazing, type of schedule you could get from a 'normal' job. And you might be seeing me back there since my new job isn't working out as planned ... not being able to talk about where you work should have been a major tip off I wasn't going to like it. And if it really makes a any difference at all in the new contact KSR gets paid more than other attractions, still not a job to do for the money though.
Just a tip for what you do make your decision. Don't do your transfer over the HUB, just go into casting sit in an interview and make sure they relocate you to exactly where you want to go. I have known a few people, even managers, who were moved to differnt locations than the ones they wanted because mix ups with paperwork along the way.

Of course, if I was in it for the money, I wouldn't be at Disney :p: .

I have little to no trust for anything I do over the HUB to stick. If I can, I would rather sit down with another human being (someone I can always go back to and say "make this right", and I've had so many issues with the computer system it's not funny. Otherwise, I would have made that transfer this month.
In other news, I finally got a manager to take a ride on my bus. It was my first run of the day, so I wasn't up to my normal standards, but I've been working on managers that I trust to please come take a ride with me for months. On the return trip to Animal Kingdom, he asked if I had thought about going into attractions, because he thought I would do well at _____ (and he listed a bunch of attractions all over the place, all contact and schtick/spiel based. Top of that list was a place I might find on the thirteenth floor.). I know that I have a few managers who should speak highly of me in my transfer process.
The other thing that is helpful to me at KSR is that I have a friend who just moved from buses and he's putting a good word in with managers for me.
I think for this change, I am leaning toward the area I keep talking about... KSR. However, I would like to Cross Utilize now that I'll be able to.

It never hurts to have training in many different locations so that if one becomes short on hours you can fill the gap with another. Just be sure to remember where you are. A TZToT speil just might not work too well on the JC. :D:
Heck it can't hurt to be on good relations with the upper transportation managers. I don't know if it is possible in the WDW way of doing things but in some companies it is possible to pick up a few shifts in another division when they are in dire need. So a shift or two a month for special occasions behind the wheel can make the difference between hotdogs and BBQ ribs. :D: And I bet that the Mrs would not complain too much if the xmas present was upped one grade. ;) :D:

I have heard that bus drivers can't work in other areas due to the differences in contracts. Can anyone either confirm or deny this?
There are times that I would like to pick up a shift in another area to see the other side of things. A wristband or screaming fan shift might be fun.
