Clbeilby and I are safe... He says that the fires are 15 miles from us, and if it were to be coming any closer it'd be an urban firestorm.... We're alright and hope everyone else is too... Everyone stay cool and hydrated- these temps/Santa Ana winds are gonna be no help at all.


One night shift I was out greeting people at Plaza Inn and they got me to sweep up leaves out front on the steps.

The memory of working at DLR during the 2003 fires is still fresh in my mind. Raining ash, downed branches, dust masks, the whole bit. Stay safe out there, guys!

Things seem a little better for us today, the fires seem to be blowing away to the west of us, but I am also watching the Santiago Fire on TV and hope Mainstreeter and all others will be ok.
The numbers of all those displaced (the most are in San Diego County) are unbelievable- they say equals the population of San Francisco.
With these winds, firebugs, and heat things can change for us all in a heartbeat.
I am thinking of you all, and also for the CM's who have to be outside in this mess.

It hit us REAL close to home. Jack's mom lives or I guess lived in Running Springs. Had to go and get her yesterday. No word yet on IF she will have a house to go back to. So we may have a new roommate soon.

DisneyMom, thank you for your thoughts. :) You are right & aren't we relieved?! Everything was much better including the air quality tonight!! We are safe & feel the worst might be over - still watching property all night just in case. Now if the 2 new Camp Pendleton fires don't cross Ortega & join The Santiago Fire southern O C has a chance.

For O C residents who want to help those FANTASTIC Fire Fighters - drop off sandwiches & unopened gallon bottles of water at any fire station. There is a collection center @ Jamboree & Tustin Ranch Rd., Irvine. If you only drop off drinking water this will really be appreciated by all O C Fire Fighters. These guys are THE BEST!

I thought the 3000 acre fire we had a few months ago was bad but you guys in SoCal are getting hammered. Stay safe.

One of my tech's has a sister in the San Diego area, he said she called last night and was evacuated, and probably won't have a house to go back to :/

It is awful watching all the film footage on TV. It is so bad...Please be care- ful all of you in SoCal, and take care of yourselves. The air quality must be shit right now. Have the winds died down some? We have had some bad fires here in Colorado in the past few years, but nuthin like this. I heard they evacked 1 million people and many houses have been lost. I don't know the figure as it stands now. We are praying for all of you.

A Q is MUCH better & has been all day. Still smokey but bearable. Winds have almost ceased here. The calm feels & sounds wonderful! Fires still rage & winds whip as ash falls from fires around. Fire fighters from 4 states are on the lines or on the way. Thank God!!
