when i was staying at ASMU last month, we came back from P&P around 12am, and walked through the lobby to get to the jazz building. At that time, the pictures of celebs were on the wall.
I came back to the lobby around 2am to get a pizza we had ordered and the floors were stripped, and the pictures were off the wall and they were painting the wall.
It didnt ruin any magic. it was 2am. I was surprised at the upkeep.
Idk if it necessarily 'ruins' a guests magic... Usually if I see something 'out of place' while im in the parks, Im happy that Disney is constantly trying to keep upkeep.
If you wanna talk about eyesores, how about those vacant buildings across the lake at pop. Demolish or keep building. Ntm the old skyway terminal in Tomorrowland. The building is in deplorable condition and the waterfall is rarely on.
Not that im complaining. :)

The resorts are different, there are always guests around but doing the work at night minimizes the number of guests who see the work.
The work done to maintain the parks should, IMO, be done after closing if at all possible. Part of the magic is that you never see the work being done.

They should do something with the old Skyway stations. The Tomorrowland one has sat completly (AFAIK) unused and the Fantasyland station is unused except for the queue line being changed into stroller parking. Do something with all the empty places around property; the damaged construction sites at POP, the old Skyway stations in the MK, River Country, and a few other places. It took them years to finally do something with the old 20,000 Leagues lagoon, even if it is just a playground, though that doesn't bug me as much as it did originally now that I know there are plans to build something much better there.
My understanding is that the construction sites at POP were heavily damaged in some hurricane a few years back (can't remember the name) and it would be very expensive to repair or demolish the sites. Wouldn't it keep getting more expensive to do the work as time passes and the sites get even worse? Demolish them at least down to the foundations so they won't be the bad eyesores I understand them to be (never seen them personally).

When you are training to drive buses, they use the Pop Legendary parking area as a place to set up cones and get buses moving in a place where they won't hit stuff. Works very nicely for that, but I agree they should either take the buildings down, or decorate them on the sides facinig the Classic so that they are not an eyesore. Anything they do would be better than just leaving the buildings there.

I thought they used the old VTOL port for training?
I can see why they would use the Pop Legendary lots though. Looking at them on Google Earth there's a lot of space out there to practice driving buses.

They may have used STOLPort at one time, but not anymore. The other thing that's nice about the Legendary parking lot is that it's way out of view of anyone.

I was working the other day at Disneyland and I noticed a barrier set up around the front of one space in line of sight from Plaza- Turns out they were painting the fences and didn't want people messing with them hence the barriers up. It was during daylight hours too... and someone told me they were painting and why.

Meh. I kind of get tired of the negativity, in Yee's articles especially. They post some interesting stuff, and I still visit it regularly... but any time I come across the phrase "declining by degrees," I click over to something else.

I have never seen the buildings that ya'll are talking about by POP, don't have a reason to ever be over there. But it seems like that could be a huge safety liability. Unless they have security watching the area ($$$) a damaged deserted construction site seems like an accident waiting to happen.....not to mention the scene for some type of slash and kill horror movie lol.

The only view I've seen of it is from the air using Google Maps. Here is
Pop Century Resort, on the left is the construction area, all that's left of the Legendary Years and the right is the existing resort.
I could see it being a big liability, made all the worse with the bridge connecting the two. Even if the bridge is blocked off someone could jump the barrier. The bridge would make going over there even more tempting for some.
