So, how was the 4th, guys? How were the crowds?
The fireworks in Milton (20 minutes east of Pensacola, FL) royally screwed up last night I understand. Instead of launching over the river like they normally are they got launched over the crowd. Also, the computers malfunctioned and shot off a large number of the fireworks at one time. There was a lot of ash falling into the crowd, including large pieces of ash that were still burning. I was wanting to see them as Milton is where my family lives but I had to be at work at 7:15 this morning so I was unable to.

It was nuts. MK closed about 3pm to day guests and from what I heard (but this could be wrong), did not reopen until after the fireworks at 9pm.
Downtown was not too bad until the fireworks there and after those, a nightmare. FHP and security could not keep BVD moving and it was taking a minimum of 30 to 45 minutes to go from PI to Bonnet Creek Parkway (about a mile).
World Dr was just as bad as the 3rd, security did not learn a thing.

I hate when security gets out directing traffic for a special event. Many of the security people are there as part of the CrossU program, and are just stand ins who don't have an overall view of how security works. They don't seem to communicate with each other, and you get at least one who is one a power trip: "Hey, look at me, I can stop a bus."
No, sir, you can stop me, the driver, because I am a nice guy. And I don't care to have to spray you off the front of my bus.
