Hey Churchy, that is how I screwed up my back as well! I was in my Veterinary Technician internship almost 4 yrs ago (went back to school in my late 40's to learn the Veterinary field) and lifted a large dog onto a treatment table and heard my lower back make some ungodly noise and it ain't never been the same since...I have had nothing but problems with my lower back and the sciatica is enough to make me scream. The neurologists won't do anything about it, they say my spine has some DJD, but no herniation and they "don't know what is causing this excruciating pain that makes me cry every night" I am going back to try again to get them to look at muscle compression or a twisted nerve. I can relate, cannot even stand longer than an hour most days and it always hurts, 24/7! Getting older and becoming less and less mobile sucks!

I always report a bad guest to City Hall if I see then abusing or mistreating CMs or their children. This may be a little different, but I once reported a woman who took her son into the women's room. The kid was not a baby, he looked to be about 14 or 15! :dropmouth . He stood there with a shit eating grin on his face the whole time he was in there just watching the ladies come out of the stalls to wash their hands. :twisted: :bugeyes: I told her, "Your son is too old to be in here, he should go into the men's room." She just glared at me and said "He is not old enough to go on his own!" WHAT??? Now, maybe in her defense, he had had a "bad" experience in his life, who knows, and she was trying to protect him, but it was uncomfortable seeing a teen in the ladies room. I told her she could have had a male CM or security guard take him into the restroom if she was nervous about him being alone in the men's room. She just glared at me and said "Mind your own business!" Oh well! I went to Guest Relations and told them and since they were right outside at the pin kiosk, pointed then out and said "She will be doing it all day! Can't you stop her and have her ask a CM or security guard to take the kid to the men's room. It made me uncomfortable and the kid should NOT be in a ladies room!" He was just TOO old to be in there with momma. He is gonna grow up with a momma's complex! Or he already has a good idea of women's plumbing at an early age! :bugeyes:
That was uncomfortable to me. This was at MGM Studios Park right when you first come in and Guest relations is just to the side and there are restrooms across from there and the pin kiosk was in the center of the street.
I don't mind the tiny boys who need supervision, but a 14-15 yr old! NO WAY! :twitch:

Also off topic: Churchy if you can, PLEASE go to a chiropractor. I was having pain in numbness in my arm at age 24 and they sent me to a neurologist who told me I probably had MS! One miserable spinal tap later they said I had a mark on my brain but no other symptoms.
Went to a chiropractor, and it changed my life (okay, well, changed the three years since the pain started). Numbness is gone, and pain only comes back if I abuse my arm.
It's totally worth it. They proved it wasn't MS and gave me my life back. I would rather live a life without chocolate than my chiropractor.

Thanks Beaumont and I did have a chiropractor. He was a holistic medicine believer and did a test then said no chocolate, eggs, dairy, soy or wheat. Later testing shows he was right. I am fine except that I have scoliosis and a bad disk.

If you've ever seen the film of Disneyland's opening day in '55, you've seen Walt clumsily pick up the first boy and girl to enter the park. When I was working at the Disney University we would all recite "Never lift or carry a guest!" when we would see that scene.

Churchy, i'm not sure about DL (I'm asuming its the same) but here at WDW up until around the late 90s (98 or so) CMs were allowed and sometimes required to be on the turntable for teacups and hop on and off a moving carrousel. Safety was much different 'back in the day' ;)

Very cool to watch how they would do it. Wasn't difficult, but it looked like it took some practice. They got to a point where they could make it all in one motion, where they would get on, keep moving, get off at a constant pace and always land right where they wanted to just by getting on at the right place.

I would love to stand in the very center of the Tea Cups. There's considerably more safe space there than walking around Dumbo, or even around the perimeter of the Cups while it's running, both of which we do all the time. It's just that it's slowly rotating, surrounded by whirling saucers of death... :break:

I meant that as you watch the ride starts while he is still leaning toward a saucer so that he has to quick step out of the way of the tea cup. Sort of looks like he got hit. Interesting CM costumes. I wonder when they changed to leiderhosen, lol. Did you see the CMs lifting kids onto the carrousel. What happened to the old days when all they needed was a chain around the carrroussel and not a row of hedges and fences.
