Are you saying I can't slap a "Assistance Dog in Training" thing on my dog and take her to Disneyland and have her ride with me? She'd LOVE BTMRR!

1. Disney and most parks will not challenge a guest if they make a statement about themselves. They cannot or will not demand proof that your dog is not a service dog unless it is obvious that the dog is not a service dog.

2. Some rides are not recomended for service dogs like Small World. Other rides forbid any service animal from riding. These include the roller coasters and this is because there is no way to keep the animal from being hurtled out of the ride.

3. Comfort dogs may be service dogs but they still cannot ride a roller coaster. I doubt that people would want to read about a dog on a ride who was sent hurtling to its death or the poor kid who was covered in dog blood and guts. Not a very good picture for Disney.

Also, I've been told that service animals must be able to be evacuated from the attraction using the same exits the guests would use. For instance, service animals are not permitted to ride Peter Pan since they would not be able to climb down a ladder in the event of an evac.

Disney clearly states that all guests on Peter Pan must be able to transfer from a wheelchair and be able to climb down a ladder. I remember seeing that way back in the early 1980's.

Bingie, you have given me a great idea. I'm going to get me a "comfort gator" and he can ride with me on my bus. How many SG's will give me a hard time with my service gator next to me. ;) ;)

Perhaps all of us can get "comfort gators". I think I have found a new business to be in.

Once I was working the Calico Railroad, and I saw a lady carrying a pug. It had to be her comfort animal--she looked like if anything happened to that dog she'd totally freak. Once a year at Knott's, I remember they'd bring service dogs in training to the park to get them used to crowds, noise, etc.. At Knott's, if I remember right, if the height requirement was you had to be over 48" tall to ride, you could bring a service animal with you, with a few exceptions like Log Ride (you've heard that it's falling apart, right?), High Sierra Ferris Wheel, Dragon Swing, and basically any other ride you can't secure the dog on. The train and stage coach you could bring them on.

Comfort gator, huh? You want REAL protection, get yourself a Comfort Croc! I'm sure Australia Zoo will have a few they can let you have; say hi to Bindi and Terri for me! :D:
