Congrats! I'm planning a trip with my wife and daughter and some friends for September. I'd like to at least say hi to some folks here and give props for putting up with an incredible amount of crap. A copy of that map would be awesome to have. It'd be a cool avatar actually...

Big Wallaby wrote:Lemme get this straight... they make a map... for Cast, but they don't make it widely available to Cast. I mean, I can understand not making it available to the general public, but I can't imagine I'm among the first to get one.
Because I asked, they gave one to everyone in the room. When I'm at Traditions tomorrow, I'll see if I can get more for other people. Surely, if they had them at Casting, they would have even more there. :D: I shall see what I can do.
To the best of my knowledge, yes. The CM map shows the names of all the back roads around WDW that guests do not have access to. I believe the tunnels under MK are also shown.
I've never seen one in person, but I have seen pictures of one.
And, I would love to have one. I'd even pay for it, and pay for shipping.

Can Big Wallaby, get a scanner and scan his map onto a computer and e-mail us the map
if its too big for a complete scan then scan it in parts and some one can either edit it togther or we can print out the parts and paste them togther

Hey, everybody, I'm gonna have to go with Polar on this. I was reading through all the legal stuff I've been given, and I don't think it would be a good idea either. Otherwise, I would do it in a jiffy (1/100th of a second).
The advice I would give is to find someone with a Garmin product with the maps of Central Florida. They would have all the street names in the backstage area on their map system. At least, they show up on my Garmin maps...
So anyone who knows about the buses knows I should start running the Magic Kingdom practice runs in a week, and then be on my own after three. I really do like darph's idea that everyone come pester me. I like to visit with everyone.
I was very impressed with Traditions... they were willing to admit that you get questions regarding the timing of the 3:00 Parade a lot. The legal stuff was all rather boring, but I don't know a way to make it fun... if it could be done, it would have been by these two facilitators we had today.
It's been great as I have been looking forward to working to have all your stories. I wouldn't have ever thought it was a bed of roses... just fun most of the time.

Polar is right, CMs can get fired for giving away or selling "Disney Property" even if it is a stapler or a sign that is going in the trash. I heard this from CMs in parks and from this and other sites. The maps are for your use only as a CM and giving them away may upset Disney security.
I wish you luck on your job and hope you do not meet any SGs soon.

Hey Wallaby, You did it!!! Knew you would. :) Glad to have you in the Disney CM family! Enjoy the Magical moments & let the rest slide. Most guests are really great, well, except for darph, & he's not close enough to WDW to worry about. ;) Map - don't give that out to any or even mention you have it. Best you list to Polar so you won't be termed. Way to Go!!!

Polar33 wrote:Folks, I'm going to have to request that the requests to obtain CM maps end. I am quite sure that the company considers these maps to be proprietary information, and I'd hate for any of our CMs (especially ones who just hired in) to face disciplinary action.
That said, those that are still interested may want to do some searching around on certain online auction websites. Most CM materials tend to show up there eventually.
I apologize.
I absolutely do not want to get any CMs in trouble or termed. :)

I never asked for one, I just said I'd like to have one :) I work for a large corporation and have access to documents that are internal to a select group of people only.
I'll have to harness the power of google once again!!!

Let me be the first to say I don't think there's anything to be sorry for. I'm pretty sure that if that was anyone's intention here, them Admins would have banned your a** aeons ago.
The training is really interesting. I'm part of a pilot program where they are going to do something like combine the training for the buses, monorail and watercraft. For this reason, we have one of the Monorail coordinators in our midst. I am the only one of the bus driver trainees not being abusive toward her... but then, I'm not "above" the Monorail, or whatever the other drivers are (and if you wanted to get really technical...).
But last night, after training, I was properly Disneyfied. I went into MK for the first time in 11 years. Coming out of Philharmagic, walking 200' and having the fireworks show in every direction around me made for a very nice first night. But I'm gonna be tired in training today.
