Re: Parade Question
Yes Dan, POTS. I was asked 5 different visits if I would like to be a part of it. And the park was pretty busy when I went too!

Dan, thanks for posting this. :) I couldn't remember POTS, just recall parade CMs in those sky blue bib overalls with huge white clouds on them & the bus.DLRFantasmic!Dan wrote:Are you talking about the "Parade Of The Stars, LDC? Re: Parade Question
I would sit on the circle near the front and watch the floats coming straight at me. More than once they got stuck on the trolley tracks. Kind of scary with that float coming closer and closer. I loved most was Tarzan. I remember them bright blue with cloud coveralls and the Omnibus picking up participants.
For some reason they like to put the men in tutus. It was a funny joke to see big guys in tutus doing pirouettes. I do not think guests were allowed to keep the hats which were animal shaped. I had CM ask me but I with others volunteered a lady who was with family on a special occassion. Like I could walk let alone dance the length of Disneyland. ouch ouch ouch

Re: Parade Question
You're correct. These hats were company prpoerty & were always collected from guests when POTS ended.mechurchlady wrote: I do not think guests were allowed to keep the hats which were animal shaped.

Re: Parade Question
I knew the way the parade worked but some people were dissappointed over not getting to keep the hat. You spent an hour of you time get ready and then performing on Main Street. My memory is not always good but I do remember the fun of watching guests dancing.
They would put two ropes across the street then people would be in the middle thinking the parade would come from the castle and turn left at the circle to go off stage. It went right past the emporium then City Hall. those were the days my friend of Coke and popcorn watching tourists be STGs.
That and at DCA when I would watch people moving trash cans only to be told they were not to be moved. I miss them days of STGs running in front of floats and people with strollers taking up space. The squatters who at the last minute would plop in your area. Nothing like a sudden charley horse and cramp to boot them.
The best part was the guests though watching the parades.

Re: Parade Question
thank you all for your replies. last sept at WDW i had us all wear the same disney t-shirts. hoping. but as you all have said, it's random. but i do know that in order to get picked from the audience for participation at an attraction, one must be noticed. i got picked for the indiana jones show by jumping up and screaming over here, waving my arms. and was picked. i also was picked for the backlot stage tour at MGM, and also at Universal a few times. it's a lot of fun. got soaked but had fun.
maybe someday we'll be in the right place at the right time.
thank you. :)

Re: Parade Question
I got picked to do the backlot tour thing (I was the lucky one who got to play the engineer guy), that was fun. All I had to do was be the next person in the line (we got stopped), and they were like 'wanna do this' and I'm like, make a fool of myself in front of people ?!?!?
SURE!
The rest is history....
Actually, I want to do it again. It was fun, but I think I'm more of a captain of the ship type role...

Re: Parade Question
Not sure how accurate this is, but I was under the impression now with YOMD that the grand marshals of the parade are the castle suite (maybe mickey mouse penthouse winners too) winners. They have their whole day planned out for them fromt he moment they win (dinner, photo op, time to get settled in their suite, lockdown for fireworks, etc). Correct me if I am wrong, or if this was just for the few promo families.
