Ah, well that's a bit more managable. I should enter ;)

No, Pirate, Jungle Cruise Skipper, HM Butler or Maid - those are all R/O positions. Unless they have the pirate go with atmosphere entertainment and hang with Jack Sparrow and the Bootstrappers. Honestly, how long does it take someone to learn their spiel on Jungle completely so that they aren't racking their brain and hesitating as they are making the trip around the waterway? And how many weeks of rehearsals does it take before a parade dancer is perfect and always on going out the gate?leftcoaster wrote:There appears to be only 5 "jobs." All of them are performers: Pirate, Princess in Waiting, Jungle Cruise Skipper, Haunted Mansion Butler or Maid, or Parade Performer.
I find it somewhat insulting in implying that an outsider can come in without orientation and training and "be" the role. Even if a CM has 2/3 days training on an attraction, or more as required in other departments, it takes a while before that CM is 100% up to speed and knows everything that needs to be done, knows the history and about all their surroundings for answering guest questions, and can make quick decisions without hesitation if need be. The older I got, the more I realized exactly how much we needed to know before we were considered primo R/O's. I agree that it's probably going to be nothing more than a glorified press opportunity, since YOMD doesn't really seem to be catching on.
Hmmm...I hope the restrictions cast a wide enough net that no annoying in-laws are allowed to enter ;)

Re: News story on NBC4.tv
it does say on the site that the CM wannabe must be in WDW between the dates of june 9-12 thats four days...maybe they are going to be put through traditions or something. Plus, i don't think they will be doing their jobs alone. Probably a manager or a training CM will be by their side at all times just so they don't do something "un-Disney"

Sorry about the confusion in my post all. What I meant to say was that all the 25 grand prizes equals $85,000. $85,000 they are wasting on other people and not giving to the people who really deserve it...the current cast members.

Each Grand Prize is a trip for winner and up to three (3) guests to Disneyland® Resort in Anaheim, California from June 9 to 12, 2007tacoboy wrote:it does say on the site that the CM wannabe must be in WDW between the dates of june 9-12 thats four days...maybe they are going to be put through traditions or something. Not WDW.

Not quite:Polar33 wrote:I think it's a rather cunning ploy by Casting.
What they fail to mention is that once you accept the prize you are no longer eligable to win the prize, seeing that rules clearly state that "employees of The Walt Disney Company, and its affiliated and subsidiary companies are ineligible to win."
“Honorary Jobs”: While performing their “Honorary Jobs” at the Disneyland® Resort, Grand Prize Winners will be acting as independent contractors and not as Disney's employees, although Disney shall have the right to make recommendations concerning the procedures employed by the Grand Prize Winners in performing their “Honorary Jobs”. No employment relationship will be created and no employment-related statutory law, case law, common law or governmental regulations will apply in connection with the performance of the “Honorary Jobs” by the Grand Prize Winners. No agency relationship will be created between the Grand Prize Winners and Disney

Hmm. I wonder if I could manage to win this, and use it as a back door to a rehire?

Could I get a job as a 'hand stamper'?? I have a rubber mallet,I could carve a LARGE S&G in it.Via 'secret' hand/mind signals,I would mash SGs hands in blood red ink. Of course this would mean,NO readmission.
Please,please,please???

You, a mallet, & your brew? This is scary as hell. :D: You'd be safer helping Ktulu clean restrooms. :p: ;)darph nader wrote:I have a rubber mallet,I could carve a LARGE S&G in it.

~Okeydokey, I know it should be a given here. But I love the fact that it says a hotel located NEAR the DLR. If at some point, all of the Disney hotels are filled up, they have reserved the right to stick these poor saps in ANY hotel they choose. As long as it's by DLR, right? I can see it now:
"Excuse me, I have some contest winners here with vouchers to use your hotel for their stay. Also, as part of their dream job, we have deemed it necessary for them to work at your facility to make sure we made the right choice before we even let them put on a costume for us."~
