Re: SADISTIC kids!
Feel free to disagree, I'm pretty good at going over the top, and adding a dash of Sarcasim and garlic here and there (BAM!) maybe even a dash of rum (MAB!) (haha it's like i'm drunk so i said it backwards) but it's the basics of how i feel.
The little snipit about tigger I heard seemed pretty fair, yeah tigger shouldn't ahve walloped the kid, no, the kid shoulnd't have attacked tigger. I think the problem is that today's society Looks too much for who's to blame and who's to be punished. Why does it matter, something happend, and now it's overwith. Simple. Yes murder and serious crimes need to come with consequences.
If any of you watch CSI, you've seen the "Fannysmackin'" episode, where local youths, lead by our favorite white trash role model, K-fed, mob around town, and beat the poop out of tourists, and my favortie character/me (sorta.) At the end of the episode the youths are depicted as being proud of thier sad accomplishment, and a v/o explains that today's youth is being raised to be proud of their accomplishments, even if other people don't agree with them.
It's parents, it's media, it's EVERYONE. Parents are under so much pressure to discipline thier child, but any form of discipline is considered by one group, or another, to be abusive, or disheartening, or otherwise destrcutive to the child. My parents raised me well, when I do something wrong, I feel shame, even if I'm the only one with knowlege of my wrong. They never beat me, I got a spanking here and there, don't call protective services, it was worth it to make me the good kid I am today. I've yet to successfully complete a college course (i get bored and drop out,) and that doesn't bother them, too much, nor does it bother me, i'm still a contributing member of soceity, capable of rational thought, and I even have a carreer path in mind, finally. Many of you know, I'm even really good at going on and on about stuff.
Don't take this the wrong way, but our defense of freedom has come at a far worse price than anyone ever expected. We're raised free, to do whatever we want, and when we do bad as children, we're praised for our free thought. May the good Lord help us when we grow up, may he help us to know right from wrong, because soceity won't let parents inform us.

Re: SADISTIC kids!
This thread reminds me of an old story Bing Crosby used to tell.
One day, he bought a pet turtle for his son. All was fine and good until a few months later when the son came running up to him, crying "my turtle is dead!"
Bing sat down with his son and explained that all living things die eventually. He then got a cigar box, lined it with an old handkerchief, placed the turtle in it, and father and son went down to the garden. Bing pulled out a spade and dug a hole. They placed the cigar box in the hole, and Bing sang a hymn over the grave. When he finished, he asked his son, "Would you like to take one last look at your turtle?" The son nodded, and Bing opened the box.
Much to their surprise, the turtle was crawling around, perfectly fine.
"It's alive!" cried Bing. "Isn't that wonderful? He wasn't dead after all!"
His son nodded, then looked up at him. "Daddy," he said, "let's kill it."

[quote="june1st1997"]Didn't Bing Crosby beat his kids? ]Yes, but this turtle incident was on a good day. :D: I think ol Bing lost control & temper more after his wife died. I'm guessing. Google Gary Crosby for their family history. Truly not the Cleaver Family!

Instead of drawing pictures of bloody Mickeys, I think we should have kids draw pictures of naked women. Oh yeah! :D:

I wanted to reply to the "growing up the little one" schemes.june1st1997 wrote:I'm with Leftcoaster on this one... Sorta.
There is a thread on another board where a mother is asking for advice on how to get her son who is 1/8" too short on INDY. I was stunned to see how many "caring parents" offered insight on how to add up to 1/2" to jr. They justified this by saying they did not want their jr. to be sad on his vacation.![]()
My wife and I have been encouraging our daughter to eat her good food, finish all her meats and veggies and fruit, and avoid junk food, so that she'll GROW big enough to ride on more Disneyland rides. The day she was first able to ride Matterhorn was one of the happiest days in her life. Little thing LOVES the Matterhorn, and wants to go on more rides now. So we make sure she knows she needs exercise, rest (naps), and eating her good food.
Maybe other parents need to use 'disappointment' as a device to encourage kid's behavior and healthy living.
