That totally reminded me of an incident that happened a long time ago to one of my old roommates. She used to work at the old May Co. at South Coast Plaza in the Junior's Department. The lovely fixtures for clothing known as "rounders" were just high enough to appeal to this kid who insisted on swinging on them like monkey bars. The rounders also happened to be topped with glass - about 1/2" thick so that half displays could be placed upon them. Andi kept telling the kid to knock it off, as well as telling the parents to keep her off of them. And of course she was ignored. And of course, the inevitable happened - the kid swung a little too hard, the rounder toppled over, the glass came down as well and broke putting a huge gash in the kid's arm and forehead. And the parents sued. May Co. ended up settling out of court just to get them to shut up and keep shopping there, but it was so screwed and so totally the family's fault.leftcoaster wrote:I think the question is, who is going to sue whom? Common sense might dictate that if Johnny smashed into a glass table and sliced his arm open, mommy would sue the store. And the store should sue the manufacturer of the effing heelys.
I really, really hate it when people get rewarded for bad behavior.
