Since when did Disney start running a lottery? How can I get a piece of that? GRRR..see this is precisely the BS that makes me want to turn tail and run to the hills. Whenever I have gone to Disneyland, it has been me that ensures I have a magical day. (CM's not excluded, of course) ;)

I have a couple of questions with this whole deal. What happens when the family that is chosen turns out to be total scum who doesn't appreciate the gift they're given? Or when you see that same family being escorted to some special area and you have to explain to your children what just happened as you were the next guests in line? Animal Farm, anyone??

~I'm looking in my crystal ball and I foresee many frivolous lawsuits in the near future for pain and suffering.~

1) The thought of having to deal with fastpasses for Peter Pan, even with a higher capacity verion, is damn frightening.

2) The whole idea makes little sense, will have very little impact on anyone besides random people who very likely will not care, and thankfully, will be out of our hands apparently.

3) The amount of money surely spent on refining, presenting, and promoting this whole scheme could probably have saved several hundred positions at DLR from quitting for a decent paying job in the next few months, saving hundreds of thousands more dollars in training/hiring costs.

4) I'd much rather have more options in spreading the magic where it's needed than random stuff that won't fix a group's, or a child's, day at a Disney park. How bout a # of tickets for a special princess storytelling given for each attraction in the area to hand out each day, for that teacup full of five little girls dressed up? Or some nice cool lemonades to hand out to parents and groups waiting outside Space Mountain? Hmmm? Wouldn't that be better than random churros or fastpasses to people who may not even want them? Seriously, a tiny thing like that can make more difference to 100 people than some random family sleeping in a special hotel room. Give me a dollar's worth of dixie cups of cool water and I'll get more 5 times more repeat customers and satisfied (and surprised by the service) guests than some random fastpass.

5) In the end, I blame lawyers for the lameness of the concept and execution.

Well, when their next in line and didn't win anything, they come visit me and all the other terrific Cast Members in the park, and thank us for ruining their vacation, accuse us of racism, abuse us, treat us like crap, and make us feel like we owe them something now. Those that don't appreciate it will just want more. They'll be expecting something great every day of their vacation, or every other time they come. I got guests all the time asking for re-entry tickets to something because they got them last time (probably as a magical moment).

I was looking on the portal and there are some great magical moments listed in there for us--not only attractions, but foods, merch, custodial, even generic land and hotel ones--to do each day. I don't know if they still do it at Dumbo out in DL, but they *used* to have a magical feather they gave to a kid each ride, and let them wave it to start the ride. From what I've heard, this feather doesn't exist anymore. A kid is supposed to be chosen to "open" Fantasyland each morning by waving a magic wand to lower the rope. Merlin is gone, so the kids cant be chosen to draw Excalibur from the stone and win the medal anymore. AlpineDL is right, a Fastpass can't replace magic like that. Fastpass is too inpersonal to leave a lasting effect on anyone. When I gave out re-ads, I'd theme them like tickets to Cinderella's Ball, telling the little princesses that they had to hurry, because they had to make sure to be home by Midnight! What magic... :fairy:

Damn it. Do I have to think of every single idea around here to stop things?

Listen. Universal has all ready closed half of the Back to the Future ride. . .I say that we go in as a private collector, buy one of the cars and uh, USE IT!

First off, we need to stop Tiki Rooms Destruction

Then Alien Encounter, keep that from closing and make them add the original Alien into the ride (God damn it that would scare the crap out of anyone, even those Night of Joy SOBs. Now, sorry if that offended someone but guess what, it's the truth.)

Timekeeper? What the heck were you thinking! Crush 2.0? STOP IT!

And dont even get me started on the celebration. However I do see a new celebration DURING the latest one: Celebration of A Million Years. It's a celebration that will never stop and it involves NOTHING! NO GOLDEN F'N FASTPASS, NO NOTHING! JUST A REGULAR DAY AT THE DAMN PARK!

Again the question from before "am I reading too much into this?" and again I say yes. None of us have a crystal ball to read into the future, let's not condemn the promotion just yet. Now as for being "accused of ruining their vacation, accuse us of racism, abuse us, treat us like crap, and make us feel like we owe them something " we get that every day now. There will be those guests whose primary goal in life is to be miserable and make anyone's life who is within their sphere of misery just as bad. This includes not only CM's but other guests.

My suggestion, If you are providing great guest service and "magic" take it to the next level. Ask yourself "What can I do today that was better than yesterday?" Don't say it is impossible. In the "real" world it is a given that you will always attempt to improve over yesterday. And please............. no more numbers. :)

Well then my question to you is if the guests expect the magic then how on earth are we, who have very limited resourses supposed to improve upon or out do Magical Moments. This will be the end of everyone but the dream squads cast reconition. And yes we have the stupid people everyday but the smart people are going to act like the stupid people if they are the next family in line. We do not get paid enough, in thank yous or money to deal with that. Oh and lets wait till the end of the celebration to see if any "cast magic" happens. I am so not expecting a thing.

Probley the same number that have asked for reserved seating durring the parade. Or that have asked for free food because their child did not get on a ride. I had this one family tell me how because their stroller was stolen they got a free meal at CRT. Seriously how fair is that. We as cast can not make sure that every stroller stays were it should so what if we give the night in the castle to people who loose thier strollers. They might give it as copensation but only if there are lawyers involved if you know what I mean. People could ask but I have a feeling they will be told no with the upmost respect from the company. But that is not to say that it won't happen who knows maybe a CM will get to spend the night in the castle.

What concerns me is how greedy people can get. This has been touched on, but I can see someone getting a prize, and as they're walking away with it, somebody comes running up to them and begs them to let them have the prize; I'll let you imagine what the dialogue will consist of, but what's likely to happen is, some pathetic appeal will be made, leading to a confrontation, possibly a fight, and next thing you know it's in the papers. People will read that and shake their heads that two (or more) adults started a brouhaha over some lame article that one person won fair and square, and the others wanted it and wouldn't take no for an answer. People these days have this sense of entitlement, and they act like such spoiled babies if they don't get their way. I mean, you folks have seen how people get if they don't get on a ride, or they think that they deserve to get on a ride before others, even if they don't have a fastpass or H/C pass. I say, forget rewarding the guests--reward the CMs who make their visit possible!
