LittleDollClaudia wrote:"They could be worth money someday." Wow. So take more useless trash home to sit in your house because it could make you a couple of bucks. Sheesh!

But really, would you feed this to your dog? You evil person, you.
Wow! That's awesome! I'll give you $50 for that dogfood right now! Just kidding...is that really liscenced by Disney though? I wonder how much of it they sell...I can only imagine potential slogans for that product. :p:

About the pins though, I've been thinking about getting starter lanyards (you know, the ones with like four pins on them for trading) for some of my family who will be taking a trip with me soon to WDW...There apparently will have to be ground rules first, though. I always liked the idea of pin trading for the creation of guest/cm interactions. Also, my mom has a lanyard with a few pins on it, but I don't think she even has any clue if any of the pins are 'rare' she just likes them because they're pretty and sometimes kids from families near her in lines and such want to trade with her (I think it helps with the empty-nest thing...)

Agreed.

I also do not understand the "infatuation" with displaying them when guests are in the parks. I mean, who cares that you have a thousand (or more) pins? Even if they are for your kids, I doubt they can grasp the concept that they (the pins) "might be worth something someday."

Lots of things are valued at some dollar amount. It's a totally different sceneriao (and highly unlikely) that you will ever get that amount from someone - unless they are a collector.

And how many people will really be pin collectors 20 years from now ? 50 ? 100 ?

Sure my wife and I have a few pins. I'm sure they are nothing spectular or collectable, except for maybe the Yultide Fantasy Tink pin we got on our tour last year. If I can find it 5 years from now, I'll probably sell it on ebay - unless someone wants to pay me a ridiculous amount to Buy it Now. ;)

Ha! Great clarification! I think you might have been able to leave it out, though, and have the thought still work...these are the kids of SG's y'know! :p:

You know what would make this product perfect? Putting a little toy shotgun in every bag! Kids could act out the movie! :chili:

Once upon a time I used to enjoy pin trading, but now it seems to attract the worst of the worst so I'm pretty much out of it. I have a decent collection, including some rarities, but I don't have them because of their value...it's because they mean something to me personally. We take a lot of Disney cruises, so I was able to get some Artists Choice pins that I could trade for the rarer ones I wanted rather than having to pay $100 (or more!!). I like CM, Figment, and cruise line pins so those are the bulk of my collection.

Every now and then, when I'm feeling particularly sadistic, I will wear my lanyard to a pin trading hot spot with with most valuable ones I own and watch the traders salivate and/or try to sucker me out of the pins. One of the best to get that reaction with is the Eric/Ariel wedding pin that you can only get if you get married on the cruise ship. I swear, some of them go into seizures when they see that one! Hubby says I'm going to get myself mugged someday.

Syndrome: You and I have the same sadistic  thread when it comes to wearing pin lanyards. I have several, including one of Figment that are on a pin that looks like our Cast ID Card. I don't trade them. I do have also some core pins that I will trade with children who are looking for a Stitch, Mickey or Chip n' Dale. But the most thrill I get is watching the sharks go nuts  with my Cast exclusives and such. :D:

I had to quit wearing my valuable pins and only had traders on the lanyard as people would play with my spinners and dangles to the point of damaging them. They pawed over my pins to the point of damaging some of them.

Trust me they will sell their car to get a pin and trample anything in their way even kids, seen that happen before.

Not that those pins are the most well-engineered and durable things to begin with...

I don't know if you can see bottom of the bag but yes it does have the Disney name on it. It also says it is a licensed property of Disney blah blah blah. I just wish I would have bought the very first bags I saw. They used to say Limited Edition on them. What a missed opportunity. But just for you Zazu, it's cheesy, but what the hell.Hope you likey!!

Now ya'll we feed our dogs that Old Yeller dog food since Jim Dandy isn't sold in our stores anymore. It's cheap and fairly decent dry dog food.
