I would just also like to thank whoever was Donald Duck last Nov, walking down the path from the castle.

The wonderous look on my 6 year old Nephew as he shouted, "Oh I am so happy look Donald is ok he didn't get stuck in the wall afterall ( referring to the 4D film show at the end ). He ran accross and gave him a big hug and chatted away to donald, pure magic...thanks.

As far as my little Nephew is concerned Donald is defo real and not a man/lady in a suit.

And as far as I am concerned Tigga is too :D:

In other words, Im not there for the benefits (Save for the admission), Im there to make someone's day. Be it a child, someone who's been on GMR more than everyone else in the world combined. . .and even for the group of girls who I now have a fear of flash bulbs on camera because of the amount of photos they took of me during a show.

I will tell you though, the moment that someone says "Man, you must have a lot of fun working here" and you reply "Not really, it's just a job", that means it's time to pack up and move onto a different area, which is why Im at GMR now, because back at Rock n Roller Coaster, it had become just another job.

I love how Disney all ways tells us CMs it takes 50 good situations to make up for one bad situation for a guest. Yet with us, we can get yelled at, spit on and brought to the lowest level possible, and we'll forget about it seconds later, or right on the spot when we see a kid have the time of their life.
Ya know, it's good to hear that there are still some who understand and care what the "magic" is all about. There are too many cast members I run into that don't value the magic at all. Their attitude sucks or they never experienced the magic for themselves as a kid. I admit, there are plenty of times that it becomes just a job. But, I do my best to remind myself of what Disney was like for me before I was a cast member and incorporate that into my duties. It makes my day when I can talk or joke with a parent or kid and watch their reaction when they feel special 'cause I interacted with them and talked to them like they were human. It's fun playin with the kids, it makes their whole day when an adult doesn't act so serious all the time. They feel a lot more relaxed and start sharing all their fun times they had. It's also exciting when they look for you on purpose during their return visits. :piano: :waves:

"Where did I park? You work here and you don't know where I parked?!"
"Nope, sorry. I forgot to memorize all 15,000 cars' spots as they drove in today." :p:

Just wanted you all to know that not all of us see the Cast Member as an object to vent frustration. Cast Members are an integral part of the Disney experience. If more guests took the time to stop and speak to Cast Members they'd have a much more enjoyable vacation. I've never had a negative experience with a Cast Member. Had plenty from guests. The family from hell on our boat for Living with the Land with two teenage boys that did nothing but fight constantly. When the CM asked the parents to control their children they were met with a mouthful of abuse. The man insisting he could enter the Fast Pass entrance to Mickey's Philharmagic with an expired pass for Peter Pan!!! I mean how do you people get through the day without slapping someone?

Thanks for everything you all do, hopefully I'll be back there soon for another visit. :D:
THANK YOU!! Share your wealth, come to DISNEYLAND in California!! I would love to meet you!!! It is guests like you that really make our day!!

LOL

But just like Indy said, some of us are here for the magic. I know I am. I am a CP and just extended my program so I can be a character handler and really be on the front line of some magic making. =) So we all know it isn't the money I am after. haha

You're a CP. . .Of course you're not there for the money! :D:

While it is true that for every dumb guest, there are a billion others that know what the heck is going on. But, clearly, you've never stood outside The Great Movie Ride for ten minutes before. So on your next trip, do so, and you'll see that the comment doesn't apply to GMR. You'll see that STGs motto of "Leave Your Brain At The Gate" takes on a whole new meaning at GMR.

Here's a little tip for anyone who just looses their magic (Face it, it happens to all of us). On a day that you have off, go to MK (if you work at MK, go to another park), use your ID to get in and put it away, dont use it again for the day and simply walk around the park. Look at everything that is going on around you. I mean EVERYTHING. I do it alot. Heck, in the past four weekends I've gone to MK while waiting for my girlfriend to get off work, i've spent up to five hours waiting sometimes and I only went on maybe three rides. Sure the rides get boring after going on it so many times. But walking around the parks, you'll never see the same thing twice. The kids having a blast, the parents having a blast, the parents acting like kids having a blast. Look at all the set pieces, the attractions, you'll be surprised at all the details you've looked at before and never noticed until now (Which has happened with me before) It's all you need for a recharge.

It's sure to work, or I'm not the author of The Disney Saga!

There's only one problem for this idea, my other park is DCA, that's not going to re-kindle anyone's magic, half the time people don't even seem to have much fun over there...but it's okay, I can just do it in other lands, I really only see Fantasyland when I work, I have the whole westside of the park to explore.

Hey, that brings up a thought....at WDW is your Fantasyland and Tomorrowland considered eastside and is it actually eastside according to a compass? I could just see Disney making it eastside so that is was the same as Disneyland.

Yeah, but those 999,999,999 are hard to remember when you're dealing with that last one!

And if you have any doubt, you could always take one of my "Misguided Tours". It's all about the little things one tends not to notice. And for fellow SGTers, the number of possible stories told goes up dramaticly!

Not exactly. Tomorrowland and Toontown are both east of the park's centerline at MK, but the only place the park is divided into east and west is Engineering. There the split is the same as DL -- Fantasyland, Toontown, and Tomorrowland are East Engineering, all else is West Engineering.

At MK, the operating departments are Main Street, Adventureland/Liberty Square (Ad/Lib), Mountain (Frontierland), Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland (including Toontown). More chiefs, same number of indians.

Zazu. Who are we kidding here man? Come on. Stitch and the Laugh Floor? All we need now is for the Cars take over of the speedway to be announced and we'll officially be changing Tomorrowland to Fantasyland East or Fantasyland 2.0

*Please note for those who don't know, There is a rumor going around that the speedway would get a Cars (the pixar movie) makeover. It has in no way been confirmed or even talked about in any form by the company.

You know, I have been reading this site for a long while and never felt the need to reply to a thread, mostly because I fear I will be labeled one of those baby-carriage wielding maniac evil moms.

BUT, I have to say that each time we go to the World, we have at least one magical thing happen. Last November, it was watching my daughters' faces light up as they hugged the characters. Each and every one of them we met, lol.

Then there is the one thing that made *me* tear up, as silly as it was.

We were getting breakfast at the WL food court. My 4 year old wanted a mickey mouse straw and I told her if she wanted it, she had to pay for it herself out of the dollar she had to spend. She did... and the nice lady at the cash register handed her the straw and the dollar and said: This is for you from me. Have a great day!

My daughter could not believe it and it so touched me that I walked back to the room sniffling. Such silly little things bring so much joy to a child.

I bet THAT is why you all work there, even if you have to put up with all of us. :)
