Minimum Height Requirement vs. Age?

Height requirements again have to do with the forces that the rider's body is subject to and the minimum safe size for a child to come out o.k. I don't know how many times I was seated in the control tower at Splash and witnessed the smallest riders getting a bit of air on drop five, where the parents would literally grab onto the kid with one hand. If a child is too short they are going to be too light to go down the drops and they can possibly be teeny enough to be launched like a missile. Pirates didn't matter because the angle of the drops wasn't steep or high enough to make a kid rise up out of the seat involuntarilly.

I'm 20 years old, 4'11", and 93#, and I catch air on Splash Mountain.

I work at Astro Orbitor and Buzz Lightyear where the age requirement is 7 years of age to go alone. I've been told it's a responsibility thing. 7 year old are responsible for not jumping out of a moving vehicle.

Not necessarily - I've seen 7 and up do stupid things at Pirates when told to "sit still and not move from the seat you're assigned." Including one who jumped into a tagged boat that got moved to storage.

As for Maelstrom catching air at Splash - you're the same size as my sister-in-law. Have you ever considered a career as a mouse???

OHIO has got alot of this under control by it's laws.

Signage at attractons is standard at each and every Ohio amusement/themed park.

There is a rating system that is standard (almost like A,B,C,D,E ticket rating)

Standard height requirements for like attractions (I.E. Corkscrew attractions at Cedar Point, Kings, Island, Geauga Lake are exactly the same

It is a misdemeneor and you WILL spend time in jail for misconduct, arguing with the instructions of a FRONT LINE employee!, doing something that could result in injury/death.

People tend not to argue or misbehave as much anymore....especialy if your areested and spend the night in jail!

WHY DOESN'T DINSEY SPEARHEAD A CAMPAIN TO ADOPT THESE LAWS...if just to cover their butts...they still get there money and a no refund, dont come back policy for SGs with complimentary transportain to Jail! Kids would be much safer...if they say no, they dont go wether the parents like it or not!

In fact, why doesn't Knott's do the same? And under California's three strikes law, on the third strike the stupid parent/guest would end up with a felony child endangerment charge, go to prison and have their kids taken away from them. But Knott's management is so retarded and self-seeking, they are robots programmed to please guests and piss off employees. In addition, if a guest is injured/killed on a ride because the guest chose to disobey a ride rule, the park should sue the guest instead of the other way around. People today are so undisciplined, and think it's a thrill to see how much they can get away with, they need to be taught a lesson--you break a rule, you're out on your ass. If they threaten a lawsuit, I think we should be given the right to make fun of them:"Awww, poor baby, whatcha gonna do, tell your MOMMY on us? Ooooh, I'm so scared! I'm just shakin' in my shoes!" Hey, haven't we all wanted to get back at a bully like that? :D: :twisted:

Now all we need is a good, hard-hitting article on how to act in an amusement park, and the importance of obeying rules, especially those regarding who may or may not ride. An expose' on things parents say/do to get their undersize kids on rides, or things teens do to get on rides they're too big for (had that alot at Knott's.) would be even better. Maybe do the expose', and use the park rules item as a sidebar.

Kari came home once telling me of parents trying to get thier little kids on splash mountain.

Kari asks the kid to stand next to the height thing.
The kid turns around and says "daddy my feet are cold, can I take them out now?"
Kari looks down and there's ice cream pouring out of the sides of his shoes.

I don't remember if the kid got on... but what a waste of seven bucks.

As much as I love "The Unofficial Guide to WDW" (I think they have one for DL as well), I cannot condone their printing of this same suggestion by a reader.
