In ten words or less, what does sit down mean to me. An essay written by a CM trying to think like a guest:

Stand up.

It *think* they think like this: "Making me sit down is their way of robbing me of the experience of standing up!". Ok thats 16 words but anyway...

Also, some people are just always going to do the exact opposite of what they are supposed to do. Always. And sitting down in a coaster leaves you with little other rebellious things to do than standing up.

Whenever we had to make BTM go 101 because of someone standing up inside the mountain, we always sent security there to pick up the offender. The rest of the guests would have to wait in the car for the ride to start up again, and they'd get a fastpass for the attraction when they left as a sort of compensation. The idiot who stood up would be in for a long stern talking to by the french police and then be thrown out of the park and given a week-long ban.
Good thing about france (dunno about the US) is that it is illegal for people to endanger other passengers in ANY form of transportation vehicle, and standing up in a coaster qualifies as such. Thus, we always had security haul the punks over to the police station... heh heh heh :twisted:

Be glad WDW doesn't seem to attract coaster enthusiast events. I married a coaster junkie and went to many, many of their events. It was a competitive sport among some members to see who could stand the longest on a moving coaster, who could keep their lapbar the loosest, etc. Some of the parks were pretty lax (this was around 10 or 15 years ago), and some of the idiots would even bring bungee cords and wrap them around the lapbars to keep them loose!

A few years back, a member of one of the clubs was killed at a park in Indiana while standing in the backseat of the Raven coaster. Her idiot family sued, even though there were witnesses that it was totally her own negligence. By that time, my husband and I were long out of the coaster clubs, but we both rolled our eyes at all the quote in the media from the club officers stating, "We NEVER EVER advocate that kind of behavior." Yeah, and golden monkeys are gonna fly out of my ass.

how wrong you are! this year's ACE (american coaster enthusiasts) Coaster Con (the Big Daddy of coaster events) is scheduled for WDW June 18-23

All of this sounds very similar to what we get to deal with during Vietnamese cultural events. There is a large contingent that believes the word "no" just means that you want to negotiate with them and that they should ignore you.
