So, people would rather wait for their fast pass time then to go somewhere else and do something?? IT shows how stupid they can be!! Why not just wait in the stand by line if they want to wait, and then wait some more!!

It only slowed Mansion's counts when you had a someone at merge who couldn't do it. During the off season our line is so quick there was no need and Holiday we gave out to many. Pirates lost half their queue. At Mansion we can theorically cycle 2650 or so an hour. That is if we load 3 per every buggy, don't stop it, don't put the attraction into creep and make sure every buggy is filled. On a good day we hit 2400-2500.

The way my mom and I work it. Say we're at MGM. We go get a fastpass for Rock N' Roller coaster for noon...It's only 10:30am. We go on all the rides that have a shorter wait, have a quick little lunch at Rosie's and then hop right onto Rock N' Roller coaster. Most of the time we hit about five rides in the time that it would normally take us if we waited in standby, for one ride. If you complain about waiting in a standby line for 75 minutes...then why not get yourself a fastpass...EVERYONE can get one they are free after all.
I say why complain about a system that clearly works, and everyone has an equal opportunity to take advantage of using it. If people paid for it, and there weren't any other fastpasses, i bet you anything that the standby lines would still be 75 minutes for a ride.

I agree completely, but I see it every day - Heck, I've seen guests get a FastPass, then calmly walk over to the Fastpass Return entrance and sit down, waiting. When the Return Greeter tells them, "You know, you can use the hour or so to go do something else", they refuse...
It's especially amazing on days when the Standby line is only 30 minutes or so. Sometime's I'll have a guest get a FP, enter the Standby Line, go on the ride, then return and go on again with their Fastpass.
<Shrug> Sometimes I don't get people.

I heard from many people that Disney tested a paid fastpass system for two weeks last fall. I also heard from a co-worker that when he was at the Magic Kingdom two weeks ago they were selling these paid Fastpass for $40, with the Fastpass machines disabled. I don't know if I believe this rumor, because I have never heard it from someone I usually trust with information. Have any of the CMs here that work at the MK know about this new test? Or is it just a rumor?
I've been told that the FastPass machines *can* be configured to dispense FPs only to certain types of park tickets - they simply aren't... yet.
On a related note: anyone else seen (or noticed) the DVC "Instant Fastpass" cards? Guest inserts their card and they not only get
unlimited FPs, but they can use their FP
immediately.
