A Boycott of Disney?
Re: A Boycott of Disney?
My mom and younger brother used to enjoy shark steaks, but when my mom would cook them, they would stink up the entire house. She said shark tastes like swordfish. Don't eat seafood anymore (haven't had any since 1982), so I can't evaluate that statement. If someone wants to eat it, what's the big deal? Seems to me that shark fillets can be made from the same critter that "donated" a fin for the soup...sheesh...commercial fishing has got to be like pig farming - you use every part of the critter but the oink. I don't think the fish monger would just sell the solitary fin and nothing else, have some common sense people... Maybe the particular orginization that's making a stink is looking to make a name for itself by going after Disney???

Re: A Boycott of Disney?
i think the problem is in asia there are no laws in place like here prohibiting just getting the fins. in asia they take the fins and throw the carcass back into the ocean to rot since fins are like 40-50$ per lb and the meat is pennies per lb. its sad. but instead of boycotting disney they should try to get the laws passed to protect the sharks! i do understand the need to cater to the societies needs. and i agree that when prepared right, shark filets are yummy!
