At least my guest control position let me have an ideal view of the fireworks. :D:
By the way...the fireworks.....just....WOW.
It was my first time seeing them last night.

It was so crowded. My hats off to all you guys who got stuck with GC shifts. Poor PirateJohn looked so tired. I have to admit I fled to downtown disney as soon as possible. Only went back in to meet a friend at great moments with "steve martin" and do jungle. The gold boat looks so nice!

Welcome to tourist season!

Don't work GC @ DL anymore - MISS IT!! Worked The Emporium again last night & heard this screwed up no crossover is carved in stone. :p: OMG, this can NEVER work! All lunches & breaks have to be planned before & after parades from now on. Lead changed my lunch 3 times because I knew I'd never make crossover. Could find absolutely no way around this brilliant new idea  Am usually pretty good @ finding crossovers @ least when in costume but see this as a no win situation for CMs. Sure is an PAIN planned by suits in TDA cubicles who dine whenever they want. No clock for suits nor "thinking" planners :duh: Yet...like everything hard carved @ DLR - all is subject to change with another brilliant idea & the wind. Hope crossover does change for you & other CMs Polar. Know your office well. Heck of a long trek. Something has to be modified quickly!! :felix:

The idiot that thought up the idea of a parade with no crossovers, and a fireworks show that cuts off several key backstage areas, really should have considered building a few tunnels while they were at it.
I think Mainstreeter is right as well Polar. I have yet to work Parade GC and I came in yesterday just as the front of the parade was hitting mainstreet. For me it wasn't too bad a thing. Go out by Bank of Main street, walk across in front of the Train Station (my lead said they are saying walk in front of the Mickey Planter if needed). Then back stage by the firehouse. Yeah its gonna be a pain, but we can do it.

OK, i was in the park as a guest on the 50th and i worked GC yesterday. I have to say GC went flawlessly yesterday. It was wonderful! BUT thats because they added 10 extra positions therefore we are running OT for parades/ fireworks until they can hire more people in to learn the ropes, so to speak. Either way, as far as the "no cross overs" thing goes. I have heard that this is part of the reason they took out light magic. ITs really hard for CMS to get around, however... If you are on the West side (ahem...Best side ;) ) then you should prolly try to cross on stage in town square and then go back stage to your attraction. Its sooooo much easier. As for east siders, its not so bad in you work TL however, working the matter horn or Fantasy land bust blow trying to get there. OUr managers are thinking that the show stops are pretty impractical, however, the show stops are the best part of the entire parade. I think we are at quite a standstill cuz those trampoline and spanish web performers trained FOR MONTHS to beable to perfect that craft, i doubt they'd take it away.

This is the same deal as Party Gras for the 35th, Main Street Hop and the Lion King - you have to be really aware of what time everything rolls otherwise you're screwed for crossing the street. I used to make it a point to leave really early with an afternoon shift when those old events were going on - all it took was getting stuck once having to wait for the floats to roll by, making me about 5 minutes late for a shift, learning my lesson. I suppose if someone had a LOT of time to kill and the show stop was around the hub or Town Squre, you'd have to use the long way backstage - but it will get you where you're going. So you have to schlep behind Indy or take the longer way behind Tommorowland. If you know your way around, you'll get where you have to be... I guess that's a long way of saying watch your time, and be aware of when and where the show stops are at what time

KUDOS to those of you working GC on 5/7/05 after pyro. I was in the mob heading towards Tomorrowland, and things went well. Although everyone was saying "I don't want to go to Plaza Gardens!" You all had the place cleared within 15 minutes of the end of the fireworks. GREAT JOB!!!

WHAT!?!?!? There is NO CROSS OVERS?!?!? That would suck big time!! We have the idiot who said no cross over to thank!! We will get lots of pissed off people. I believe there was one crossover when I went to the castle for the fireworks.

I was working Harbor Tolls in the afternoon (Timon lot) and I couldn't believe all of the cast members that were coming in! sure I want to see all of the 50th stuff too but I would never do it with all those other people! I had an AP tell me that they stood in line 3 and a half hours for one collectable pin alone! MADNESS!

Yeah, the line for Store Command (the old Premiere Shop) topped out at 6 hours...it went all the way to the monorail. I worked Store Command on the 6th, and people were getting mad at us because we didn't have any AP pins left. One couple went off on me for not having any AP pins left. Then they had the nerve to tell me that I wasn't in a very happy mood. "I'm not gonna wait in a 6 hour line for pins!" they said. "Well, I'm sorry, but everyone else did." I would reply. THEN we also had guests who would get mad at us because we didn't have any Gift With Purchase (GWP) pins. Sorry, we only hand out (and usually sell out) of those pins on the first Sunday of the month. "So do you have any?" NO  Have I mentioned that they are the reason I am not a fan of pins? Well, if not, I'm mentioning it now.
