The same rule does apply...if it's something with no real monetary value then the cast member doesn't really have to report it(i.e. the bubbles from the bubble ladies, buttons from Rachael and Richard) but if it does seem to be something of value it must be reported and often time goes to an apraiser to find out it's actual value.Buggy wrote:Can we tip non-monetary items, like badges or toys or candy or thank you cards or other keen stuff?
Can someone please clarify this for me?

I turned in a 20 dollar tip at trains once, they guy wanted to tip me just for giving him a ride. I told him no thank you, twice, and told him it was quite alright, and that i didn't need it, and he left. It was temping, but the last thing i needed was for a lead or manager to walk onto the platform, and get in trouble.
Gimme some soft serve!

I know that entertainment get stuff all the time like toys and stuff and the 75 dollar rule applies. I've never had a problem keeping stuff before, but its never been worth more than like $5!!

well on alcatraz u cant take money no matter how many times they insist, u can politely ask them to put it in the donation box if they would like to help the park but thats about it, as for other stuff i believe we can accept small things, like patches mostly from cops, firefighters, and military...and other tokens its actually pretty weird sometimes...we had a few sailors do a reup ceremony on top of the lighthouse...we got a few challenge coins outta that one :D:

Placid, nope not from all I've been told. This is an area Mystery Shoppers/Guests don't get into. They are outside hires & ONLY looking for GREAT guest servicing. Accepting Thank You cards, a button or patch, & those wonderful bubbles :) never have to be reported. I've been given photos from the guest's last visit. This was kinda cool.Placid_reverie wrote:i always wondered if mystery guests tried to tip us to see if we would deny it 3 times before accepting it... hmmm....

Granted, Disney uses a different company now, but I used to know a mystery shopper. She worked for an outside firm that Disney hired to shop us. She was given a list of locations to shop, and reimbursed for her purchase (up to an amount which varied based on location]have[/i] accepted tips ever given a receipt for it?) Since these are mostly regular people who, other than the merchandise and food they receive, are not paid, I doubt any of them would consider trying to trap you into taking a tip to be a winning proposition.Main Streeter wrote:Placid, nope not from all I've been told. Obviously, this sense of security should not necessarily extend to fox units...
If I have offended, I apologize from the bottom of my admittedly hypothetical heart.

hey main streeter,
yup the reup cememony is where the sailors reenlist take the oath and everything, challenge coins are kinda neat theyre heavy brass coins with an engraving of the ships seal and motto from which the sailors come from, then it has on the other side an engraving of the ship itself. sometimes if your lucky the coin will be colored with enamel, really cool got 2 so far working on the island i think almost every agency and military unit has one so its fun to collect

O k, I got a question, it didn't happen to me, but a fellow CM. He said a guest tried to offer him a tip, but he refused. The guest said he knew all about the "three rule", so he kept it. What do you do then if the guest knows about asking three times?
