Little Shop - Bad

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

The original ending was so freakin' depressing (I saw the play with it...ugh). I'm glad they changed the movie. I usually don't like tinkering with things, but it's like "Shawshank Redemption"...the book was probably more realistic, but God how I loved seeing that bastard warden get his comeuppance in the movie.

They actually put the original ending in the movie, complete with expensive special effects scenes of the plants destroying various major cities around the world, but it tested horribly. So they reshot a happy ending, with just a hint of malevolence -- the one surviving plant. If you watch that scene carefully, you'll note that only two of the faces of the three-girl "greek chorus" are shown in that last scene. The camera pans down to the plants and you only see the third girl's feet. This is because that third singer had already moved on to another project and a stand-in had to be used.Syndrome wrote:The original ending was so freakin' depressing (I saw the play with it...ugh). Supposedly the original ending was included as an extra on a 1998 DVD of the film, but then pulled from store shelves because the producer didn't want it released.

The original ending is available on the original laserdisc release. Just as it was released, David Geffen decided he didn't like it and they pulled all of them. I've been trying to get my hands on a copy for years.

yeah I know, I have a work print copy of the original ending, the one where the plants win. I have it on my computer somewhere. it's rough but shows you what happened, and the other endding song.BRWombat wrote:They actually put the original ending in the movie, complete with expensive special effects scenes of the plants destroying various major cities around the world, but it tested horribly.
