so, we got a stage production of the Lion King here.
so, the big lox in charge says,
tourists are not going to want to sit throgh the whole 3 1/2 hour stage show.
so, he cuts our show down to less that 2 hours.

so, now we should call the show, the Lyin King....

As I recall, something similar was done with Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian.

Re: Disney Shafts Vegas
But I bet that the ticket prices won't be reduced because it's a shorter show

My understanding is that is standard operating procedure for any Broadway show doing an extended run in Las Vegas. cut it down to 90-100 minutes and loose the intermission. Seems they feel their audiences have some disorder whereby they will have an adverse reaction if prevented from gambling for more than the shortened run times of the shows. Gambling Deficit Disorder ?drcorey wrote:so, we got a stage production of the Lion King here.

I know of many shows that had reduced runs when playing the Las Vegas theaters. And then they wonder why the shows don't last as long as expected ! Cutting several songs, and scene changes from a big production always compromises the production. The audience pays a premium price, and gets less product for their buck.

This is why I head to NYC for my musical theatre fix even though Vegas is a lot closer and cheaper. Also, NYC doesn't have a constant drone of "ding ding ding ding ding"!delsdad wrote:My understanding is that is standard operating procedure for any Broadway show doing an extended run in Las Vegas. cut it down to 90-100 minutes and loose the intermission. For now I think I will just stay here in Utah for my fix. It is surprising how many amazing theatres there are here.EpcotFan wrote:This is why I head to NYC for my musical theatre fix even though Vegas is a lot closer and cheaper.
