You can still make the cent sign. See? ¢

You have to use the ASCII code to do it though. The code for ¢ is ¢

Hopefully this will show up correctly on everybody's machines.

And you'd get a free Looney Tunes glass with purchase! :porky:

I remember parents getting free stuff at the gas station when I was a kid-
S&H Green Stamps, Plastic Zoo Animals, and a Presidential Coin Set (I think it only went to Nixon)

Some places gave S&H Green Stamps, some gave Blue Chip Stamps. We collected both. Chevron had a Hawaiian themed promotion going--"Come to Chevron Island"--that featured a hula dancer standing on top of a gas pump as she spieled for the commercial. Then they had a "Hula Dollars" promotion, a "Wiki-Wiki" promotion, then a "Gold has been discovered on Chevron Island", where for your loyalty to Chevron, you could get gold-rimmed dinnerware.

I have a feeling that somewhere in this great land of ours, there's a little old lady in a nursing home who's wearing a well-worn hula skirt and lei, singing "Come to Chevron Island!" everytime she sees a gas commercial come on T.V.. :D:

Thanks for the code; aren't there other codes for symbols no longer available on keyboards, because I think I saw a list on here of them?

I remember collecting Wiki-wiki Dollars! What were they good for? I don't remember getting anything.

There's a code for most any symbol, letter, or number you can think of. Just Google "ASCII code" to find a number of lists. ASCII is used quite regularly in coding webpages on the Internet. Somethings it is impossible or hard to code without ASCII (cent signs, foreign currency symbols, etc.) Other things require one to use ASCII because otherwise the browser will try to interpret the symbol. For instance, in my last post, I had to use ASCII to create the "&" when showing how to create the cent sign because otherwise the browser would have seen it as ASCII code and displayed the cent sign.

SGT though is limited in the ASCII it can accept. It doesn't accept & (a common code) for creating an "&" but it does accept the numerical code for it.

Thanks! That explains why Churchy's caption below her name , "Stupid Guest and Feather Ruffler" has the & and "amp" together.

This darn board is back to its old tricks of only showing the most recent posts when I click new posts again; I signed out to clear the cookies and signed back in, but now the feature that allows me to click ahead to the first unread post has disappeared. *SIGH* At least I know more about this computer stuff than I did 10 years ago, but oh how I wish I knew more....
