Yesterday was new 'friends' bid day for me. I been looking forward to this as I been wanting this dining bid ever since I had started working for Disney. I was lucky enough to get it. Just like a first day of school, you are always hoping that things would go right despite the new surroundings. I guess I was lucky, everything went right and then some!
Something I have always said is that people always think that if you work for Disney, the "magic" is ruined because you have to see the underbelly and not so nice aspects of it. But also, you get so many more endearing and memorable moments when you DO work there. It's always far greater being the giver of these moments than being the receiver.
Last night in particular was a reminder of why I love what I do. For one of the moments when the restaurant was practically empty save for 3 families, a little girl was celebrating her 5th birthday - dressed as my best girl'friend' Minnie Mouse!! To make it extra special for her, the entire cast of Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, and Dale went to her table to 'sing' Happy Birthday to her. Her mom and friends were delighted to have such an attendance. For the rest of the night, we took all 3 kids at her table and played with them in the lobby, giving them extra special attention that normally a guest would never get otherwise. Imagine, 20 whole minutes of playing with characters! You could tell the grown ups were astonished at all the attention we gave them. They told us it was the birthdays of all birthdays and that they felt like they rented out Disney for the night. They were a great family who truly appreciated what was done for them and were the complete opposites from all the SG idiots we sometimes run into normally.
The second "magical" of that night was sitting upon the darkened rooftops of the building we were on and watching Hallowishes. It was the best place ever to see them. We are in this area that we are high up enough to see it all, hidden enough that no guests can see us, and also smack dab in the middle enough to have the full effect when they all go off at once, including the perimeter fireworks, it surrounds you completely! And to think .... I get this chance EVERY NIGHT!!!
Magic every night!

That's awsome! I love that restaurant! And I agree, the view up there is awsome for the fireworks. But what are you going to do come Jan?

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Pool, that's where I'm betting I'll go. But I love that place so much that I knew this coming in and I don't mind pooling.
