I can also say that Si and Am captured the personality of the breed very well..

LOL! That always makes me smile. Considering the time that "Lady and The Tramp" was set in, Si and Am were indeed worth more than a purebred cocker spaniel! Matter of fact, I think the King of Siam was still the only source, as royal gifts. But of course, Disney was stretching the facts a bit.

Well no one came forward to claim the little man... so he's officially part of my family (there's that WORD again.) I got him new ceramic bowls he can't tip over like the Travel bowl he's been eating out of up till now, how own collar, ordered him his tags, and made an appointment for a full physical for him this Saturday, with a full panel of vaccinations. I even got him a harness and lead so he can start training to walk on a leash like my other cat. His soft paws came in the mail yesterday, but I can't even trim his claws, let alone glue on soft paws without him wrapping around my hand and biting like there's no tomorrow, so I'll have the vet put them on. Trixie's I can put on myself, because as much as she whines she behaves herself when I'm trimming her claws.

After his appointment on Saturday, when they're both in softpaws and cleared of disease, I can start them on supervised interaction.

When we adopted two kitties from our vet, we brought them home in a kitty carrier, and let them stay in there while the other kitties came down and sniffed and let them get used to each other. there were a few growls, but after a day or so of forced isolation in another room with their own kitty box and food, we let them out. after a bit they were playing with toys and running all over the house like it was normal. We did leave the kitty carrier open so if they wanted to go someplace they felt safe, it was available, but after a few days they even started sleeping in the same spots as our other cats. (window seat, etc.)
This is the best way to get them used to each other's scent. YOU also take somethinng with his scent on to give to Trixie! That way they both get used to the other's scent without the business ends of the cats going to work on one another! Take it slowly, very slowly when starting to introduce them in the same area. You WILL have some *episodes* of territoriality and that is to be expected. Just keep a spray water bottle handy. (keep it on stream, not mist) That is a great way to break up fights and teach them not to fight. IF you can really teach a cat ANYTHING!!! :hysteria:

We have 3 cats now and one of them, the youngest, Tinkerbell, is actually trying so hard to be the Alpha cat and she starts fights all the time. We just to have to try to minimize the fighting, which does not happen too often. But she particularly goes after my 16 year old, Tawny, the cat we have had the longest and the definite Alpha cat.

We are going to add a new kiten to the mix to give Tinkerbell, the youngest at 5 yrs old, someone who can torture her. :p: Kittens are notorious for just bugging and bugging the nearest cat or foot or moving object and Tink likes to sleep on the dining room floor! She will get hers! Kitty Karma! :D:

It will be nice to have another cat in the house. We are coming up on a year since our beautiful Orion passed and I still feel so lost sometimes without him. He was a one of a kind! That cat definitely changed us. He taught us so very much about unconditional love. =^.^=

I love cats and would have a house full! Lucklily, Ralphie loves kitties as well. :cat1: :cat2:

Frankie has Trixie's bed, and recently, she has his blanket. It needed time to pick up his scent. Also they smell each other under the door and poke paws back and forth at one another... this will have been going on for 3 weeks by Saturday, so I am absolutely taking this slow. I believe the next step is to put Franke in the carrier and let Trixie and him meet face to face with a barrier (cage door) to stop them hurting one another... but I'm afraid it will make Frankie hate the carrier if I do it before the Vet trip, so I'm waiting till the day after the vet. (Not going to do it the day OF the vet, that's enough trauma for him in one day.)

Whenever I have to brush Tripod's fur--which she hates with a passion--I always put an Elizabethan collar on her. She may be 17 years old, but she has razor-sharp teeth and knows how to use 'em! They don't cost too much, so maybe you could try that when claw-trimming and applying the Soft Claws. Tripod also doesn't care to have her claws trimmed, but she mostly just yells when I do it. Maybe at her age, she's getting arthritis, so it actually hurts for me to handle her paws, etc.. :(
