You have not met Ralphie yet. He picks up every coin he sees on the ground.Main Streeter wrote:Certainly NOT a child from The O C!! Not a teen nor adult either, even if the penny was bright, new, & within reach.
He would not have run after your penny and stole it tho, Doc.
He just likes to find money. I let him do it, cause he splits all his findins' with me and he HAS found 20 dollar bills before out in the middle of a parking lot, no one around...and a fiver once or twice. I even got him one of those metal detectors for Christmas one year, but we don't have no steenkin' beaches here in Colorado, so we will have to wait til we move near the ocean again for him to use that.
He is funny about it, EVERY coin he picks up, he says it is free money, bless his heart!

Happy Anniversary! Congrats on getting through the first year - now that you've done that, the rest are relatively easier. (My 15th is next week, which sometimes seems like a long time, sometimes seems like 5 minutes.)
So which one did you do? (I'd have done the AC, myself, lol).

Well i let Mrs. Doctor choose TSMM and then goto AC.. so we could do both...Big Wallaby wrote:Between AC and TSMM, there would be no question for me. TSMM will be there awhile.
We went to TSMM and saw a 90 min wait ( i be damned if it is not Sorin all over again ) so we turned around and just went to AC....
We had a blast.....
I want to save the AC.... we can do it.... i have hopes and dreams.. and a little pixie dust some where in my backpack.... i wounder if that would work........ do a search on my post "Save the AC" and see if we can do it that way...
The Doctor
Note from Big Wallaby - This guy snorts pixie dust! Ask me for details...

I do the same thing, Susi! I have a jar for my pennies, and I pick up the ones that are really eroded, too! Of course, when I roll them into 50 cent rolls, I always put the bad ones somewhere in the middle, and put bright shiny pennies one each end.
The most I've ever picked up was a couple of $20s. You can also use the metal detector in parks, as long as local laws don't prohibit it. Lots of people coin-shoot the parks, their yards, vacant lots, etc.. Can't do it in Federal or State parks, etc., though.
I don't know if you got my last PM or not, Susi, but we just renewed our lease, so we're not moving (re: the prize for guessing the passionfruit name origin).

Since the discussion has strayed to pirates, it's a good time to throw this in...drcorey wrote:here is a video for you. ray stevens, the Pirate Song

I was in Saratoga Springs over the weekend visiting friends (the real Saratoga in NY, not the resort in WDW). We went to the track on Saturday. In the 6th race there was a horse named "Arrrrr". :)
Of course, I *had* to bet on it, strictly because of the name. The announcer had a fun time with the name, calling out a hearty "Arrrrr" every time he needed to say it that day.
Well, at post time, this is what happened....

Just imagine this booming out across the grandstand... Everyone was dying laughing and cheering. It was great. :D:
(Oh, and I think I won $3.60 on a $1 bet on that race)

I love that as an afterthought he announces the 2nd and 3rd place.
