My old school district switched to uniforms after I graduated from HS. They aren't bad at all. Just a blue polo t-shirt with "Union City Board of Education" and the kid's school embroidered on the left side and a pair of khaki pants that the parents can buy anywhere. It's cut down on the baggy clothes.

Unfortunately, the changas still wear pants that are way too tight and give them a huge muffin top.

I would think that after having to sit in them for almost 8 hours that they would want some a bit looser!

Yesterday I was hanging out on the load side of the MK Resort Monorail platform talking to Big Wallaby. I saw a woman who was wearing high heels and walking very gingerly. It was evident she was in pain. We all agreed (BW's wife and their roommates' daughter was there too) that it is very crazy (and not a good crazy either) to wear high heels to the parks.

That's an obscure fact I actually knew. I think it'd be kinda cool if they would come back into fashion for men (not that I need them I'm so tall :) ).

I can remember when platform shoes came out in the 70s; they were hideous, countless women injured their ankles/feet wearing them--including one woman who bought a pair with 8" heels, tore her ankle ligaments, and said in an interview that when her ankle healed, she was going to wear them again! I can't and don't understand that way of thinking. Why can't fashion be comfortable? If I have to wear pumps, I get the kind that has the lowest possible heel, like less than an inch or something. I mainly live in sneakers and sandals, depending on the season. T-shirts and jeans, or shorts in summer, are 95% of my wardrobe.
Anybody that gave me a "What Not to Wear" makeover would become the object of my undying hatred for life. The bulk of the stuff out there that passes for clothing is garbage. In 1977, John Molloy wrote "Dress for Success" and "The Women's Dress for Success'. They were very sensible and well-researched. He did the research on his own, with help from his wife. And I agree with him--fashion fails. Looking good shouldn't be expensive, dangerous to one's health, or go out of date. I mean, look at men's suits--about the only thing that's changed on them is the lapels and the ties.
In my personal collection of books is a book titled "Flatter Your Figure'; it shows women how to assess their figure faults and dress to hide them. According to this book, if I were to lose 80 pounds and manage to keep my shoulders straight, I could wear practically everything. Though the wide hips on my hourglass figure may still pose a problem....

The first person to wear high heels was King Pepin the Short of France. Yes, he was height-challenged, and had issues with that. So he tells the royal bootmaker to build up his shoes to make himself look taller. And the rest, as they say, is history.
