Continued from above....

Anyone who has known me here, for as long as I have been here, will tell you I would do just about anything for a CM. I LOVE the CMs. :) Go back and read what I have said about CMs in my other posts. This is the very FIRST time I have had something a bit negative to say, because yes, I did have a negative experience with some CMs who did not care or were not trained correctly. It was a first and it was a surprise. I have never had that happen before.

Most CMs are the wonderful, magical people that make the Disney Parks what they are. So don't take offense at my remarks, they were NOT aimed at you. I was simply stating some of the things we ran into this trip which I was surprised about. I had not had that experience before and it made me sad, more than angry, that CMs had all sorts of varying answers about the same issue. When I told the CMs in City Hall about the inconsistency in what the CMs were telling us, they had this to say. "I am sorry, but we have many new Cast Memebers and they are still learning everything." That was it. Not any other answer like "I will talk to the leads" or "mention to anyone", just an excuse as to why they were like that. I have never in my llife had that kind of answer or treatment by CMs in my life. That is why it stuck out for me.

I did not expect any kind of freebie or NSA or anything, I am not like that. I just want to know what the right thing is to do, when I am being told 2 or 3 different things by 2-3 different CMs. I just wanted to let them know that that GC CMs need to be a little more consistent, cause you have to ask, What is the right way? What SHOULD have I done? I tried to do it the way the first CM told me and move up, and when the next CM walked by, he told me to move back. The original CM walked by again and told me to move up please. I did and the next one told me to move back. What would you have done? This is inconsistent.

Not an insult to CMs, just the truth of what happened to me. I don't want to argue about it anymore, I want to put it away now and just remember to be on the watch for it next year and try to avoid the crowds and parades. That is sad. I am tired of arguing about it and we will have to agree to disagree, bcause we each have our opinion and that opinion is right for each of us and we can still talk Disney here. :)

We will go back, because we love Disney Parks, but this trip was one that had more SG tricks than any other trip we have taken and the couple problems we had with CMs was minor, but caused an inconvenience. We did have real SGs doing real SG behavior which was rude and far worse to deal with. After all, you can't punch somone for being a SG, can you? Durn! ;)

I don't think I should have my view blocked by an abled bodied person in the disabled section. If I want that, I can go sit anywhere else along the Parade route. I think like Bru, in the future I will just have to avoid them. I'll catch the reruns on youtube, just like I catch the ridethroughs of the thrill rides I cannot do because it would not be good for me and it would hurt too much. The ridethrough vids at youtube are interesting and fun to watch and you have no pain from getting bumped around, dropped, or swung about in a loop! ;)

I will try to get some pics loaded in the next couple days. I have been lying down a LOT because the pain is nonstop now and I cannot get around on my feet at all anymore. I am in the chair or in bed, those are my choices now.

I have an appt with the vascular surgeon on June 9th. He is the first surgeon to go in and move all the blood vessels and organs to the side, so that the Spine specialist can then go into the area in the spine to clean out all the disk debris and arthritic spurs and put the new disk in.
I am looking forward to the time after after the surgery and recovery and recuperation of 6 weeks. Maybe I will be on my feet again. If so, great! If not, I will have to learn to live with this.

If they ask why, I would make very sure to tell them why, in no uncertain terms. I see this as setting a dangerous precedent: There was a time the disabled were hidden away from the public except in freak shows. The disabled had to fight to have the same rights as able-bodied people, and now it seems those rights are being endangered by people's self-centeredness.

Right now I'm battling a case of shingles on my face, and I'm trying to keep cool when I'm in public. Mainly, I avoid meeting people's gaze, keep the affected side of my face out of view, and if someone does look at me, I smile and act gracious. Yesterday I had to run into the store for milk, and while there I needed some eyedrops. At the checkout, the cashier saw I had the name of a retail property company on my shirt. She asked about that, and I told her someone gave me the shirt years ago. I think she was trying to make conversation without asking "What the heck is wrong with your eye/face?" Hey, she gets props for being discreet!

According to the research I've done on shingles, the rash goes away in 2-4 weeks, It's coming up on two weeks now. Damn....
I had them on one side of my face once when I was younger. They not only are disgusting to look at, they hurt! I was a teenager, so you can imagine the comments that came my way. The lovely Herpes Zoster virus! My dad gets them as well! I probably inherited it from him.

I have the herpes simplex virus, (NO NOT that one:eek :) , I get the fever blister/cold sore one on my eyes and mouth area and the blisters come out in extreme weather, like very cold or very dry or veery cold and dry...or when you are very stressed out. I don't get them very often and when I do, they have great OTC drugs now that can limit the outbreak to 2-3 days from the usual 7-10 day virus time

The Herpes Zoster virus which produces Shingles is much more serious and invoves nerve pain as well. I wish you well and feel your pain, mine were on the side of my face too. Most of the time they break out on the trunk of the body, usually around the back or sides of the torso.
Get well!

Sending all good thoughts and hopes that surgery will work a miracle for you, Susi. . .so glad that you met that lady during the parade! I have talked with some fabulous people who inspire me so much during trips to WDW.

The thing that I love the most is exchanging knowing looks with others in chairs. Because we know just what it took for us to even get out of bed and make it into the park that day. I had days the past several trips where I missed whole park days- this past trip we got to EPCOT and I had to literally turn around, get wheeled back onto the monorail and go back to the room- before we got to the gates. I went straight from the chair to the bed and cried myself to sleep. I felt so bad I'd cost us a whole day of park touring. I told my hubby to feel free to go on without me but he decided to relax by the pool instead and had a fun time there just resting too.

My expectations of trips is totally different now than in years past. It's not what can I cram into the days- it's how much can I get out of my body before it just quits?

I have to admit this time when I was watching Wishes with one (deteriorating) eye- I shed a few tears wondering if it'll be the last time I get to see them at all. But even if that is how it turns out- at least I got to see them.

You're stronger than you think- and you can adjust if it turns out you have no other choice. It just takes time- and you have to find something to keep you from going crazy. Something you can still do that makes you feel that you count in this world. Because even on the days you feel that you don't, you do.

I just hope that after your surgery that the pain will fade into nothing as a memory that you can't put behind you soon enough.

Susi, thanks for clarifying. I wasn't sure if that is how you meant your posts to come across, I"m glad that despite your difficulties you were able to have a good time. I'll pray for you and your back surgery, hopefully it will make life less painful for you.
