Last of the Mohegans...
Ok, I'm officially the last person in my Family who hasn't been to a Disney Park since our trip when I was 14. My mom was first, when she went to a computer programmers convention down at WDW when I was 18, then my brother went down twice this past year, and now my mum and father both just went to Disneyland. I didn't even know they were going!!! Mom went to another convention, this time in San Diego, and my father went to join her a week later, so they could have a west coast vacation for a week out in San Diego, and mom wouldn't have to pay plane fare since she had a round trip ticket from work for the convention. Apparently they drove up to Disneyland for the day one of those days.
Thanks to ya'll out at Disneyland for giving them a great time. They were just brimming about it when they came back, although they went on a weekday, so there was no fireworks. (They weren't complaning, I just asked if they saw Tink's DL flight as I hear it's much different than MK's and they said no.)
They didn't go into alot of detail, marveling at how Star Tours was in tomorow land due to the lack of an MGM, and of course the inevitable comment about the smaller castle. They didn't see any of the cats or eat any churros (I asked.) They didn't even know what Dole Whip was, which makes me sad, since they missed a real chance with that, seeing as how I've never seen that stuff on the East Coast. The longest line they had to deal with was for the Nemo Subs... no surprise there. My mother says she suspects they had someone other than Ellen Degeneres do the voice of Dory on that... does anyone know about that?
Apparently my father loved the Indiana Jones ride so much, that he dragged my mother back on two more times since the line was shortish at that time... throwing off her precious time table, which was apparently worth it to her to see him that happy.
Oh... and mom said Small World was closed for some kind of Holiday preparation... it seems a bit soon to be putting on Christmas decorations... are they taking them off now, or do they do some other holiday, or is my mum just reading signs badly?
I'm jealous now, since by the time I get to WDW this fall it will have been 10 years since I went in Summer 98.

Great to hear that they had such an enjoyable trip :D: .
I think they sell Dole Whips over at MK's Adventureland, as well.Mayonnaise wrote:They didn't even know what Dole Whip was, which makes me sad, since they missed a real chance with that, seeing as how I've never seen that stuff on the East Coast.
"it's a small world" has been closed since January for a massive rehab. There are a bunch of stories about it, but I'll just parrot the official line: the thing has been around for nearly 50 years without a rehab, and is in dire need of one. It will be open by Christmas, though.Mayonnaise wrote:Oh... and mom said Small World was closed for some kind of Holiday preparation... it seems a bit soon to be putting on Christmas decorations... are they taking them off now, or do they do some other holiday, or is my mum just reading signs badly?

OOPS! I didn't the other response.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

I believe that IASW is down for renovations. IT was when we were there a couple of weeks ago.
(I thought the thread was about going to the casino near Boston!)
you should shame your parents into a trip to WDW!!!
OR
next trip to San Diego, hitch a ride!!
ITs actually an easy drive up!!

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Rumor is Small World is closed for a complete rebuild, the country is getting fatter and it was causing the water to flow over the flumes and it was dripping down to the facility under DL where they keep Walt frozen and it was threatening to thaw him out.

Yep. Just after crossing the bridge from the Hub to Adventureland there is a small counter serv. stand on your right. They sell Dole Whips and other icecream goodies. I believe it is called Aloha Isle.glendalais wrote:I think they sell Dole Whips over at MK's Adventureland, as well.
(And for those who, like me, don't like pineapple, you can get a softserve vanilla in either cup, cone or waffle cone.)

When the parks opened people carried nothing or sometimes a purse, camera, guide map, diaper bag, and sweater or jacket. People drank water at fountains and never carried cell phones, blackberrieds, laptops, pinbags, and countless items. Even a normal healthy adult nowadays carries stuff.GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:OH, so the story the CM told us was TRUE!!!!!!!
Also when the ride backed up there was severe tipping as much as 30 degrees and that scared some guests. Nothing like being in the boats as the sandwiched together and then started tipping, lol. The ride also needs to have the queue fixed to handle the long lines as well as the disabled guests and fastpass.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Walt was buried in Forest Lawn. Go look for yourself.
