Seems they are goiing to test not using wristbands for EMH's for a few days IN Feb, one of the fan sites has a thread on it and some complaining going on http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.p ... ost2748015

Anyone haver any insite into this? opinions?

ugh I am soooo not happy with this! The first try of this will of course be Sunday my first day in the parks, evening EMH at MK thats going to be a zoo

I saw that... and tho I can see where they will save money on producing the wristbands and some labor costs not having to have to have all the wristband distributions spots, I can also see, MAJOR nightmares for both the guests and the CM's.

Guest POV....
*PITA having to pull out your resort ID at each and every attraction (more then one if you have smaller kids whom you have to hold theirs for too), no to mention having to make sure it is put away securely before you actually get on the ride.
*Longer wait times because of above situations.

CM POV (my thinking how it will be for you guys)....
*PITA having to check each and every ID to make sure it is valid for that day.
*complaining guests because the lines have such a huge wait.
*having to possibly cycle a run thru empty or partially empty because it was taking so long to check the ID's
*complaining guests cause "why is that car going out empty--I could have been on it"

The difference in trying to get in/on an attraction is not going to make a difference whether you show an ID or a bracelet. If you dont have either you still aint getting on. (at least it is supposed to work that way)
IMHO.....So much easier for y'all just to say "let me see your wristband" rather then "hold on while I get my glasses and flashlight out to see that teeny tiny print that states the dates on your ID"

The news blurbs say they must be shown to do an attraction. SOOOOO...does that mean that if you arent a resort guest you can still stay but just not ride anything and still shop and eat. Like Disney is gonna say we dont want your money...LOL

I feel for those of you working next week and having to explain this SUDDEN new thing to the guests. Poor ppl who are already there and overlapping prob have no idea if they haven't been told specifically yet.

That "new" method sounds very similar to the old "ticket" rides! as in "E" ticket! before boarding the attraction, you had to have a ticket, or in this case, your guest pass.

EMH has always required a resort ID but the guests would get a wristband so the attraction CMs only had to glance at the wristband instead of checking every single ID.

PI uses wristbands, which makes it a lot easier to go between clubs than having to have one's ID and ticket checked at each entrance. I've never done EMH but can easily see how this new policy will slow down loading of every attraction.

While I've never done an EMH, I have done a "hard ticket" event (MNSSHP) and I really liked the ease of just waving my wrist at the cast member as I got on an attraction. I do not believe that the cost savings will be so great as to justify all the aggravation to the cast members and guests.

Perhaps they are trying to find another revenue source? "Hey, pay us another $5.00 and we'll give you this COOL and COLLECTABLE wrist band that will make your EMH so much easier! Pay us $20.00 and we'll write your name on it!"

WE still have ours from out last trip (DW is getting into this "Scrapbooking" thing) With the technology available, I would think an RFID pass would be the next way to go. That way you could "interrogate" the pass from a distance, or even set up a sensor "gate" at certain areas, and not have to physically inspect every single pass!!

I can see a few problems with that. First, people would complain that Disney is tracking all of their movements (whether or not they actually are). Second, nothing would prevent the ID from being passed to other people who aren't resort guests.

They SHOULD track them (hehehehehe) but they are usually combined with an I.D. and photo/bio data. Several of my "building/area" passes are on this system.

It is costly, so I doubt that they will ever move to that soon. But when you arrive as a guest and get your "pass" they could just as easily give you a wristband pass. like those other ones that are popular to wear for various causes!

Doesn't sound all that traumatic to me. I have to pull out my Premier Pass at USF/IOA at every ride to get FOTL after 4 p.m. I don't see a big difference here.
