What happened to Monorail Pink?

Post by Driver_dylan » Sun Jan 06, 2008 2:03 am

I have recieved several questions about Monorail Pink such as the following.
kurtisnelson wrote:Whats up with monorail pink? I got to see it get towed today :) It made it to the station first though...
The short answer is that I really don't know. That being said, not even Shop knows what is wrong at this particular point. Here is what we do know. Monorail Pink stopped on the beam with what appeared to be what we call a full service stop (train comes to a complete stop without indication) from there, the situation degraded to the point that all seven inverters had failed. From that point, the train was towed. Last I checked, they are still trying to figure it out.

The long answer is that the trains are suffering from a combination of being old and overworked. That coupled with the recent late nights and quick turnarounds and of course the cold weather, is bound to cause problems.

Take your pick on the explination, but the end result was Pink getting towed back to shop. I will be off the next two days, so if any of you see Pink out let me know.

Best I could do for a dead monorail smily

VISA. It's everywhere you want to be, and a lot of places you don't.

Simple, the hamsters ran out of peanuts and quit running.

Now that I don't ever get close to TTC anymore...

I went up there to say hello to Switchbeam before he went home from the CP, and it felt like I hadn't been there in ages, which actually translates to about three weeks.

At least it died in the station. Or did they know it was about to die and just rush to get there? They did get the tractor out their amazingly fast.

The new ones came out at DL. Monorail Pink is part of the fleet that's been around a long time at WDW. It'd be nice if they'd replace the WDW fleet but I doubt that'll happen anytime soon considering they just refurbished the interiors of the cars.

It does sound like though that they need to start bringing trains down one at a time and give them complete and total mechanical inspections and overhauls.
