Star Wars Posters

Post by hobie16 » Thu Sep 06, 2018 7:41 am

A friend who loans hard money sometimes gets interesting stuff as collateral. If the money doesn't get repaid, he keeps the stuff. Yesterday, the following became his.

Poster for first movie.

Anniversary poster. These were only given to theaters that ran the first movie for a year. 250 printed.

Cool--and in great condition, too! Wonder how much that would bring at auction?

Probably not very much. Used cakes tend to have very low resale values. :birthdaycake:

That, and the collectibles around it aren't still in the original packaging.

Research indicates the movie poster is valued at $2,500. The birthday poster is valued at $5,000.

I'm laughing over Zazu's comment about the resale value of old cakes. Of course I was referring to the posters. Tidy sum, that.

Hopefully your friend came out ahead and made money on the transaction. It makes me wonder, though, why the original owner didn’t just sell the posters himself?

He came out way ahead. He gets people that need fast money. Many do pay off the loan but some are never seen again. In the case of the posters, the guy was notified a number of times that the note was coming due. No show.
