This is a gross abuse of the temporary worker programs. It is happening here in Canada too. Recently fast food places in western Canada were busted for laying off all the locals and bringing in temporary workers from Asia. Its a disturbing trend. A mine in BC tried to bring in chinese miners, because the local miners were apparently not qualified - to work in the mine from which they were laid off when the Chinese company bought the mine. Its criminal.

A lot of this seems to be a result of how corporate executive performance is measured. They seem to need to show a certain percentage of growth year after year. Continuing to show profit like last year is not enough. they must squeeze a percentage improvement in the numbers by any means possible, even in the face of stagnate sales or revenues. Show more profit than last year no matter what. and that percentage goal is higher year after year. Only the ruthless survive.
