Planes
Re: Planes
I'm not sure I did this right. If I did, here are a couple of pics of the most recent car.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Original 289 removed to add a little juice. 351 now. It moves ok. I'm more the idle around and sound good guy. It has to look good though.

Ford and the after market guys have done some nice things with the 351. If you're more of a cruiser you need a hot cam that gives the engine a nice lope at idle.YANXWIN wrote:Original 289 removed to add a little juice. 351 now. It moves ok. My first real car was a '62 500XL. It had a 406 with 3x2s and 11.4:1 compression. I had to run 120 octane Chevron Custom Supreme so it wouldn't knock. It had such a pronounced lope at idle that it would scare off potential red light racers. Fun car.

Re: Planes
Hm, I was all prepared to hate Cars and I walked out surprisingly entertained. So I went into Cars 2 with moderate hopes and walked out saying, "well Pixar had to make a bad movie eventually. They can't all be hits." Not sure what to think with Planes. I'll probably go in with low expectations so I can be pleasantly surprised again.

A friend of mines dad had a 63 Merc with the same set-up. He claims it would do 130 in third gear and local LEOS would come lookin for him to race against their cruisers.

Re: Planes
The '63 Merc probably had a 427. They were rated at 425 hp but actually put out around 600. The Mercs did better in NASCAR racing because of their aerodynamics.darph nader wrote:SAWEEEET. Would give my ex-wife for that car.
