An update on the woman who wont cut the apron strings. We went to the kids orientation tonite. This woman has a problem. She would not let go of the poor girl. Of course I had to stick my nose into other ppl's business. (it was driving me nuts ok?)

Helicopter Mom (HM for short) had to hold the toy broom for her and help her pretend to sweep along with the other little girls(mine included) whose parents seemed happy that they had a free moment (include me this time..lol) Sweet little girl, not stupid, quiet compared to my DD :D: Then again a herd of ravaging elephants are quiet compared to mine :D: Well anyway, we were all herded from the main room to the arts and crafts room where all the kids sat down and the parents stood up along the wall (at least there was some non zombie bodies this time). Guess who wasn't having her kid sit down? Come on guess! I finally had it, the poor child looked like she was the outcast. There happened to be an open chair next to my DD so I talked to the child, not HM and pointed out my DD and said why dont you go sit down there. Of course HM "HAD" to walk her over there. I gotta give it up for the dad on this one. HM was going to squat down next to her and Dad literally grabbed her shoulders and yanked her to a standing position. Both Donnie and I were like WHOA! We were close enuf to also hear the dad say something to the effect of "she is fine" .

I kept telling HM to trust me since I have an almost 22 yr old too (god I'm getting old  ) I have been there done that and the kid will be fine. Plus I told her just think she can drop her off and go home and have that champagne and bubble bath that she hasnt been able to for the past 4 years. LOL The kids all got a snack and because they were in the 4 yr old category they were to go get it themselves. Here we go again.
The kids were seated and I was standing kinda behind HM. I whispered in her ear "stay put... she is fine and can do it herself" YES I really said that to a total stranger. I have balls what can I say. Plus I am bigger then her...lol
The girl did fine on her own.

Truthfully, I think the child will be fine away from HM. She actually seemed to liven up when she wasnt looking at her mom it is when HM spoke or got close or when the child looked at her that she seemed to phsyically scrunch down into herself. I kinda buddied her up with my DD since she herself hasnt had much interaction with other kids other then some VBS, etc and it kinda helped Meghyn to make a friend of sorts. I did hear about "my new friend" later so it worked. :)

I am sure that HM thot I was pushy and annoying and I dont normally butt in on others parenting skills but this effects my DD since the girl will be in her class and I am paying good money to have my DD educated not to have other children disrupte that by being whiny brats. So I dont care what she thot really. ;)

SIDE NOTE: I was about to leave my whiny brat at Ross's tonite when she treew a total hissy fit over a toy that she wasnt getting. No one can acuse me of helicopter parenting :D: 4 yr old up for trade of lifetime passes to WDW...any takers?????

Your going to give me lifetime passes in exchange for giving you a 4 Y/O. Where do I sign.

BTW: do you want air holes in the crate? :D:

Wow, bad night, Cranbiz? You're rather punchy tonight! :D: :aliens:

Wait, I know what it is... Someone spiked the Beverly again.

I am curious, though, about this little girl who suddenly quiets down when her mother is around, and comes out of her shell when she stops thinking about mom. I dunno, it just seems like a red flag.

Wallaby it is not uncommon for a child to be submissive to a controlling parent but when allowed to relax and be themselves then they become normal. I wish I had the money to get you tickets to WDW to get your kid in trade as it sounds like a wonderful kid.

Right again! And kudos to JugglingFreak who has PM'd me both times (here and for the 'Newsradio' challenge on a different thread) with the correct answer before anyone else.

Now we can all go back to trying to get a life. :D:

I was kinda thinking the same thing. She just seemed to, I dont know, shy up for lack of a better term when HM was close. I cant quite put my finger on it, but it is more one of those instinctive things. Call it woman's intuition or whatever.
Donnie says maybe it is because of the amount of time that HM spends with the child and that she maybe doesnt give the little girl any alone play time. (like she plays with her ALL the time instead of letting the girl play by herself) Apparantly she has her to herself 20 hours a day while the dad drives for UPS.
Who knows, guess if they make our podunk newspaper at some point then I know my intiution was right. If not then HM still has some major problems. I seriously thot she was going to cry because the kids sat at the table where the parents werent allowed. She actually reached for her while they were having a snack. Donnie says she needs to cut the umbilical cord already..LOL

If you mean my kid...yeah...right. You will be calling me in a matter of hours going GOD PLEASE COME TAKE HER BACK! :D: Seriously my DD is a decent normal 4 yr old, I am just old and cant keep up like I did when her sister was little and I didnt have as many gray hairs. ;) Well if you do have enuf of her just put her on a city bus and send her over to her sister's in L.A. LOL

That's great for you, but what do I call it when I get the same vibe? My genetalia and I are insulted. :p:

I was going to comment on that but I refuse to answer on the grounds that I may incriminate myself. ;)
