Just a quick couple of thoughts:

Copying a song or movie (and so forth) is not the same as borrowing. Borrowing would involve taking the original paid copy (the CD, DVD, original file, etc) so that only one person has access to it at a time. If you make copies of it, and are handing them out, even free of charge, that is piracy, a form of theft.

It seems to me that we have a bit of double-standards going here. To wit, saying that it is fine for the gentleman in the original post to fraudulently obtain discounted tickets for non-residents because he is an individual, but Disney is in the wrong for wanting more money because they are a big company. If being greedy is wrong for one, it is wrong for the other.

As for "living in the real world", of course we all know that there are folks who will lie, cheat, steal, or just be plain greedy. However, where we seem to differ is that we don't just shrug our shoulders and say "That's just the way it is". We say "No, that's wrong." That's part of the reason this forum exists in the first place.

So when someone buys a MP3 file, then they want to let me borrow it, they email it to me, or even if they put that file on a disk, flash drive ect. There is not way to let someone "borrow" a file without it being a copy. Thus eliminating the "that is piracy, a form of theft" argument.

Thanks for playing.

Pardon me for not being able to make out someone's crappy gif animation drawing. At least I could tell it wasn't a horse.

Part of the "family" but still not a horse.

Actually, no, it doesn't. To borrow a digital file, technically, one should delete the file on their own device or devices while the other person is borrowing it. In practical terms, it usually means that only one copy of the file or software is being used at a time. For example, you can't copy a game to another person's computer, then have both copies running at the same time.

Also, just because something is difficult or impractical to do legally doesn't mean that one may go ahead and do it illegally.

EXACTLY!That is the whole reason someone does it illegally, because it is such a chore/bore to do it the way you're supposed to...

Of Course, I'm always amazed at how much effort and time criminals end up going through to get to their usually unfortunate conclusions ;)
