At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

I'm gonna have to dust off my Firefly series DVDs.

Thanks for those, Shilohmm. They were a lot of fun.
Hardly a week goes by in our house without "I appreciate ____. Not, you know, a lot." The one that keeps popping up at work is "Define interesting...". One of my coworkers and I use that one a lot. We don't feel the need to finish with the definition, but it makes an excellent shorthand. :D:

We're big on, "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!" Used to get the whole exchange ("Yes... yes. This is a fertile land, and we will thrive..." to "dear God in heaven"), on a right regular basis, but either the kids got tired of it or there are fewer dinosaurs floating around here then there used to be.
"Man walks down the street in a hat like that, you know he's not afraid of anything ... " and "Sir, I think you have a problem with your brain being missing," get a good work out, as well.
Why do people wash their cats? I've always wondered...

When we brought ours home from the shelter, we tried to give him a bath after a few days getting used to our home. I bled profusely, the bathroom was a mess, the cat was very upset, and only slightly damp. I had no idea that a cat could climb straight up a tile wall.shilohmm wrote: Why do people wash their cats? After that experience, I never doubted that cats are self cleaning!
Re: Official SGT ADD thread
I've had cats that needed to be brushed, but in over 50 years of cat ownership, I've washed maybe four cats one time each. One was in the 70's, I think it was flea shampoo but maybe she'd gotten into something, I forget. The other three were when a new cat showed up, much bedraggled and (we realized too late), carrying all manner of nasty diseases, so I had to wash her and my two cats she'd come in contract with with nasty medicine.delsdad wrote: After that experience, I never doubted that cats are self cleaning!
No tile wall climbing, just very sad kitties. :D:
Cats are self cleaning, pretty much. Dogs, on the other hand...
